The little thumbnail versions they show on the page do not synch very well, go to the full version on youtube for better synching.
Vote for my version, please! These lyrics were very hard to write a smooth rhythm to- some lines were very long, some short.

Good grief... Maybe change the name to lyrically challenged. :P I kid I kid... But man what a rhythmic mess. Kudos to you and the others for your efforts.
I listened to all of the entrants... Not completely but at least a minute or so. But yeah... Challenge indeed.
So what does the winner receive for their mountain climbing efforts?
Save your music and melody mike... Write your own words. Unless your happy with the final product. I guess it's a good exercise or learning experience working on others material.
How many hours did you put into it?

No prizes this time, but the folks running this are working on getting some sponsors. You should have seen/heard the lyric entries for the last round - OMFG!! I didn't even try to do anything with the winning lyrics of that one.
This one was a definite challenge, I knocked a few words out of the bridge lines because I was having to rush through them even worse than the final result you heard. If you listen to Juliane's version, she REALLY had to speed thorugh them.

Jahva - nice idea about saving the melody and chords, but I may have permanently killed any idea of using these again with this project. Total time on this song was not too bad - for my own songs I will mix, put aside, remix, put aside, burn a CD and listen on a few different systems, remix, etc. On this one I literally did it in one long mixing session. Putting the video togehter took almost as long as mixing. But how much total, I have no idea, maybe 10-12 hours including writing, tracking and mixing.

Mark - if I had any of those huge triangle picks you use, I'd send them to you!

Thanks for the votes.

Thanks for taking the time to check it out and voting for me!

If nothing else, this 'challenge' really makes me work the songwritng process - my own songs come together so much easier than taking someone elses arhythmical lyrics (specially when you are not allowed to change them) and set them to music.

Mike,

Congrats on the win. Man was that a tough one! I see many people on here thinking they can do better with the lyrics. I invite anyone on this site to participate. It could be interesting to see how other musicians tackle your lyrics...maybe even give you some ideas with your own music. The site could also use some more experience rather than Joe Shmoe submitting some lyrics he wrote in 5 minutes. Also Mike, check out the site again. I made it so that when you go to the home page your song plays automatically. Gives you some more recognition. I know a lot of people are visiting on your behalf but I'd also like to thank them for at least checking the site out. It will help it grow in time.

For anyone still wondering how this works, check it out here: http://www.thelyricalchallenge.com/how-it-works.html

Lyrics? here is a snippet from a concept album I'm putting together:

Video – brief shot of a wagon train in a desperate blizzard of Biblical proportions.

The Donner Party struggled.
A long hard road and nasty weather.
When they set out, --- they were together.
But they came back alone…

Them that came back…

I must have some grease on my glasses…
It looks like the snow shut down the passes.
Can’t see where our next meal’s comin’ from!
It could end up, being someone…

Music change of tempo here – picks up in a big way.

It couldn’t ‘a been us!
We ain’t no gosh darn cannibals!
It was the dead that stood up
And started eating folks,
That gave us that awful name.
