Dane Ellis Allen wrote:Jeff, please clue me in, about the great good Ted Cruz wants to achieve for the majority of Americans.. I'm just a dumb Ozark hillbilly.. all Cruz did was alienate himself from his own Republican colleagues for the most part.even McCain thought it foolish... did he really achieve anything with his fillibuster? big fail, and what upsets me with him is ObamaCare is the LAW last time I looked, so why is he railing against something the Republicans themselves voted on and passed into LAW..

Dane I never said you are stupid. I said you are clueless. My point is that you have allowed yourself to be manipulated by the media. I think you are an intelligent human being and I have a great amount of respect for you. All I am asking is that you take your head out of the sand. To answer your question Ted Cruz came in as a Jr. Senator and stood up for ME AND FOLKS THAT BELIEVE AS I DO! He didn't give a ratsass what is popular or go with the good ole boy majority. As a result he pissed off a bunch of left leaning conservatives (and I use that term loosly) so they got pissed! That is exactly what Washington NEEDS. You believe what you want that is your right. I'll believe what I SEE and want that is my right and I'll thank you to respect that as I respect your right! My trying to clue you in on my way of thinking? ...................Well you and I both know thats impossible so I won't even try! My Mom thinks exactly like YOU DO and all that has ever gotten the two of us is heartache!

I was glad to see somebody...anybody...in DC actually stand up for the people of this country. I don't necessarily like Cruz, he's a politician and I definitely don't trust him, but he did make a few points by standing up for what he apparently believes in. Has any other politician done that in the past 50 years? Nope...all they stand up for is more profit for themselves.

I've believed for many years the politicians in DC have established and are propagating government based entirely on greed, corruption and bribery. What we need is more people like Cruz who are willing to stand up and buck the status quo. People who are willing to do something beneficial to the people, which is actually their job.

I don't care if the guy next door is a democrat, republican or what. But I absolutely despise the politicians in Washington, both parties. Both need to be eliminated, new non political party replacements elected, and they need to definitely KNOW before starting they work for WE THE PEOPLE, not the corporations.

I only disagree with one thing Glenny said...we have government of the rich, by the rich and for the rich. You were slightly off the mark there Glen...

If you don't believe that, when was the last time you saw a democrat or republican fighting like hell to get legislation passed that would see corporations and wealthy individuals pay their fair share of taxes? That's because they are not about to step on their own toes, they ARE the rich...

I'm not sure if I like Cruz, since he's a politician affiliated with one of this country's two leading political parties, I certainly don't trust him, but I do applaud him for standing up for US.

guess it depends on how you define "stand up for the people of this country".

as i see it.....it was more like sticking it UP the people of this country.

and for what? exactly what did it accomplish? nothing good that's for damn sure.

Well, if nothing else, it brought attention to the fact that our government is totally dysfunctional.

It also brought attention to the fact that this insane health care law is going to cause a lot of headaches, no matter what happens. And it won't get better any time soon. Businesses closing, people seeing their hours cut to part time status...and who will pay for the insurance for millions who are already abusing welfare, food stamps and low income housing? YOU, the taxpayer, with your new part time job. They're being subsidized, remember? That means YOU get to pay for it...AFTER your hours get cut to 30 per week...and your taxes go up...what do you think that medical device tax was? Or is...

I also noticed our bonehead president was sitting there acting like a dictator with his my way or the highway attitude, while refusing to "negotiate", but when some Native Americans complained about the name of a football team being offensive, he said if it were his team he'd think about changing it. Oh really? Millions of people hate this health care insanity and he refuses to even discuss changing it, so he has more respect and consideration for a stupid football team than he does for the American people???? Throw the bum out!!

Now he wants yet another open ended credit card...raise the debt ceiling, borrow more billions to pay our bills, and every democrat I saw didn't even think about discussing trying to reduce the excessive spending that got us into this mess. Our dictator..I mean president...refused to even talk about it...Nope, I wanna get us even further in debt.

Think about it...if you're going broke, do you hand your wife a new credit card and tell her to go max it out? No. You try to cut back on the spending...not get yourself deeper in debt.

How the hell do people who have made millions for themselves end up letting our government go broke???? Greed, lies and corruption. And both parties are guilty.

It should have opened a lot of people's eyes to the insanity going on in the white house. It should have shown a lot of people in this country just how useless their government actually is. And it's really a shame something like this had to happen just to get people to sit up and notice...

Wake up and smell the oatmeal folks, your government is not on your side...and if we don't stop all the bickering and put our heads together, it's going to keep going downhill fast...as it has for at least 50 years, no matter who was holding the reins...

sorry pete, i've got to respectfully disagree w you here. it brought no further illumination to either.

the same folks against the health care law.... remain against.

the same folks for it....remain for it.

and those who see gov't as total sh*t.....still see it that way.

those who see otherwise....still see it that way.

that sad and pointless grandstanding act did nothing but further polarize us.... even within the gop party. and now they'll be digging themselves out of that hole doing damage control w the blackeye cruz laid upon them.
