GuitarMikeB wrote:Not to mention wishing for a double neck guitar .... There was an Epiphone SG double neck at GC recently. I picked it up and tried it out (no way I would strap it on!) It was really heavy and the arm/hand angles to play either neck were just all wrong for me.

Oh you just hurt me bad, Mike.

I was just looking at a Fender Custom Shop 50's guitar.. (yummmm-yummmmmy)

The guy wanted to trade it for ANY DOUBLE NECK GUITAR..

(I was wild eyed and scheming like mad.) lol

It wouldn't have worked out anyway, I think it was a "C" and not a "slim V".

To address the "Virus" issue: For some odd reason, Macs have gotten this reputation as some kind of anti-virus computer. They are NOT immune.

Here's the truth about viruses:

Viruses don't discriminate. Programmers do. The reason that hackers write viruses for the PC is because the PC is the dominant platform in the industry. A virus-writer wants to hit as many computers as possible - so you write for the dominant platform. You write viruses to attack PC's.

If Macs were the dominant platform, the majority of virus writers would target Macs.

Macs are not "immune" to viruses because they are Macs. Their OS is just as susceptible to a virus attack as a PC is (and with the proliferation of the iPhone, we're seeing more viruses targeting these platforms).

Apple has done a great job in the past few years of selling their product. They are catching up to the PC. And because of that, they're seeing more viruses.

You have to be careful about viruses no matter what platform you are on. Follow a few simple rules:

1) Don't open an email attachment if you did not specifically request it from the sender.
2) Don't open suspicious emails.
3) Don't navigate to suspicious websites

Be responsible. Install anti-virus software if you are really concerned and run it regularly. No matter what platform you are on, you are vulnerable. As long as you are connected to the internet, you are vulnerable, no matter what anyone else tells you.

The only totally safe computer is one that has been magnetically destroyed...

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt - you sent this to the wrong forum. OR your computer picked up a virus!

I was responding to certain comments at the beginning of this thread. I didn't feel like taking the time to quote all the relevant text. There was a discussion about PC vs. Mac and Pro Tools/other software.

I'm just trying to inform the uninformed who think Macs are immune. They're not.

As for my own personal wish list:

1) A nice 12 string acoustic guitar

2) A couple PRS 24-fret, double-cutaways with nice maple tops would be cool.

Thanks for the heads up Mike.
Yeah, I can do a basic set up intonation job.
And I can always get Eric to help out if I have a troublesome axe.

Right now, with extra kids in the house I can't work ( outside the home ) and our finances are on the downhill skid.

Something has got to give.

Maybe the CPS folks will have some good news on childcare, and forcing the bum dad to choke up some cash to feed his kids at our meeting tomorrow.

Just trusting God to show us the way.

They 'were' virtually untouchable before they switched to a unix based system. Macs were, that is.
There were some things that could be done, but it took a Herculean effort.

So, that's where that Mac notion comes from. It was grounded in truth in the old days.

My wish list:
1957 Stratocaster
