Been intending to get a picture, just haven't done it yet. Yes it does sit on the floor, I just designed it to tilt back enough so it points where I need it. Pretty easy to do actually, set books under it till I got what I wanted then measure...and I also have the option of interchangeable legs.
I go with 8 feet because in general the sound of any amp "opens up" at around one foot per inch of speaker diameter. So with an 8 inch speaker, I want to be 8 feet away to get the full sound of the amp. Unfortunately I don't often have that option onstage, most of the time I can't get 10 feet from my Super Reverb or 12 feet from the Kustom 2x12 cab I use with my Peavey MX...The Super has tilt legs, the Kustom does not. At band practice I'm a little closer to the Champ, about 6 feet but it still does pretty well, I'm sitting on a high stool so it's still pointing in a good direction.
The design is very similar to what I found online, from what I remember, but I didn't bother to go look it up, I had in mind what I wanted and just started cutting up PVC...A few measurements and it was no problem. Got the back high enough to get good support and hit on the back plate, front barely sticks out 1/4 inch or so, width fits between the amp's feet nicely, then just add feet...all you can see from the front is the two legs and bottom bar. I'll probably leave it white, or sand the crap out of it if I decide to paint it. Paint flakes off if you leave it smooth.
