Good points. My last P-Bass was built from parts (P-neck, J-body, T-humbuckers) and indeed, had a bad ass bridge.
I have active pickups in the Hohner but the jury is still out. The Hohner needs them more - the P-bass really roars out of the box.
I may add a second PU down the road - maybe a T-bass humbucker or something else. Not sure if an EMG active would work with my P-bass PU - do you happen to know? I sure do like them.
Might go the bad ass bridge route too but have to admit that so far I have no sustain issues and the darn bass is about as solid as any instrument I've ever played.
