While TV helped mass market bands, it also had a cheezy side that put it at odds with rebellious r&r. The Beatles exploded into the homes of teenage girls by going on Ed Sullivan but The Doors disrespecting Ed Sullivan was the best thing they could have done for their mostly hippy fans.

Led Zepplin was on a French TV show....once. Peter Grant thought it made them look silly and that was the last time they did a TV appearance until the recent appearance on Letterman.

MTV was the start and end of so many trends of R&R. Too bad they have sucked for so long now.

I don't like "Nickle-Bag" but they do write some interesting material that sells. (shrugs)

Likewise, I don't always agree with JW but he's got a lot of diplomacy going and understands how to keep people motivated and productive.

That's a lesson I'd like to be able to get in a pill because I definitely do not have it.

Capt I like to think I have the ability to agree to disagree with someone.

Take Nickleback, I like them, I like the lyrics, I like the music, they just suit me, I know most dont like them here, but thats fine. Im not going to argue someones personal taste, whats the point in that?

Religon and Politics are tough things cause we all have differences in that, mine is from my personal experiences, thats really all I can base it on. But I leave those things alone.

For me this is a musician site, I respect people who put the effort in to play music, whether it be covers, originals, or just noise doesnt matter to me, I know how much passion and time it takes to just get one song together, much less a full night of covers or a enough songs for a cd.

So I dont know about diplomacy, cause most people arent going to convince me to change my position on anything, if anything my wife says Im hard headed, and slightly naive, cause I just dont get drawn into peoples drama. We had this discusion over the weekend, she said you just dont see whats happening do you, and Im like why would I want to see it. I know who I am, I know what I can and cant do, and I respect others to make thier decisions whatever they may be.

I like to think that I respect others, even if I dont agree with them.

I reiterate in that "diplomacy is being smart enough not to get involved where you don't need to be and at the same time, taking care of business when and where you do need to get it done".

You may think you are staying out of it, but I see you not getting involved because you don't need to be.

"I respect others to make their decisions whatever they may be" even if they are wrong. lol

Regardless of how people think about it, it's a mentality that works for you and you haven't lost anything while maintaining the band in a productive state.

Call it whatever you want, JW. It's working for you.
