Does anyone else find it annoying to search for a particular type of musician like a drummer or a bass player (any type of musician) only to find that practically everyone lists that they play every instrument under the sun? That's great that you can play multiple instruments, most of us can. But what is it that you play very well, or what instrument do you want to play in a band setting?

This would be extremely helpful to know. Your multi-talented musicianship can be explored once you are familiar with the band and learn more about the direction of the band.

How bout listing your main instrument, and then explain your other musical abilities when writing a little bit about yourself. Personally I don't even waste my time contacting someone with a list of so many instruments played due to the fact that I can't tell what you are looking for. I would guess that others pass you over as well. The whole thing makes this site seem a bit amateur.

We actively search for people who play more than one instrument.
Yes, imagine that!
Someone else wants something that you don't want!
Everyone is not you.
If you want someone who plays just one specific instrument extremely well, then say so.
Yes, I'd prefer someone NOT list an instrument they aren't very good at.
But, I've played with many very good multi-instrumentalists who do just fine on several instruments.

Amateur douchebags like Prince and Lenny Kravitz sometimes play everything on their albums.
Where's YOUR platinum album, buddy? :P

Why are 'guests' allowed to post on this forum? Shouldn't they at least have to register and create a profile?

I actually agree, they should have at least a "primary instrument" category, perhaps a "second" and "other instruments played" separation.

When I used to be a paid subscriber and looking for musos here, I'd contact a bass player only to find out that he was really a guitar player who listed bass because he "dabbles"..

People could also utilize the bio/about section and give more details about themselves, so the problem can be attributed to both sides of the fence.

I think the BM system is pretty well designed.
Simple.
Getting people to utilize it with some semblance of common sense.

guitar/bass/drums/percussion... and I would rather just play everything in the studio myself as to avoid trying to find musicians in the sea of posers!

'Guest' has a point. On Bandmix accounts how often do you see someone that's looking for everything from lead guitar to bag pipes. What the poor guy probably wants is a gig in a band!

I'll wager most of us play at least two. I myself do Bass, Lead and if I can stay of the sauce, a little keyb.
