I plan to incorporate the crazy high quality video with the crazy high quality live vocal and one instrument input I just discovered I could pull off. Then add the instruments and shoot video as I add instruments. Then marry it all together. I plan to vastly improve the overall product I am releasing in every way I possibly can. I plan to try to push to sell some songs. I plan to try to make some jingle money as well.

1) Finish up the songs for my 2nd album. Have all the instruments tracked on 2 new songs, but been waiting for my throat and lungs to clear up from the cold/flu that I've had on and off for the last month to get the vocals done. These two will get the tracks up to 15, I think, then its time to look/listen at them all hard, start tweaking mixes a little more, decide if any should be cut, then send them to be mastered while I work on the cover art (already designed in my head).

2) Practice recommences for Instant Karma on the 13th with our new singer. If we're not gigging within the next couple of months, I think this project might be a wash.

3) Keep looking for an acoustic partner. Neither of the guys who contacted me before the holidays has got back to me. Like I said elsewhere, if they aren't actively looking to do something, they aren't commited enough for me.

jw123 wrote:Jimmy you might can help me with something, Ive begun experimenting with alternate tunings, I guess thru the years Ive always stuck to standard other than drop D.

The song I recently recorded was kinda Zep inspired acoustic, I dropped the low E string to D, and dropped the A string to G, got quite a few good ideas from that tuning. And actually took the time to record one of them.

What are some other good alternate tunings to try, for inspiration?

hey jw. are you looking for tunings to slide in....or....?

a fun one (and as a bonus very easy to get to) is A9. you simply drop your D string to a half step to C# and you have a real cool A7 add 9 chord!

for sliding around, since i play dobro i play that in
"open G": G B D G B D

i have two old Supro lap steels and use....
"lap steel G" D G D G B D
"C6 tuning" C E G A C E (instant western swing and hawaiian sounds)

and for rock stuff i keep an old butt ugly solidbody HARMONY beater in
"open E" E B E G# B E

I always think of a Roland JC 120 for clean, Ive been messing with this setting in my POD PRO, looking for that elusive clean tone that I cant seem to quite nail with my Mesa's.

I am using the Carvin V3M for dirty and a Crate Palamino for clean. This solves several problems. I have been carrying that Crate around as a backup for gigs. M.I. rehearsed last month and they were commenting on how much better the clean sound on that crate is. That ABY switcher is seemless. I am very happy with the sound I am getting. I will use it this Saturday and will know if I am going to keep using this setup after that. Most old school guitar players use a Marshall, Mesa for dirty and use a fender for cleans. This Crate gets the same cleans as a fender.

I would like to inquire as to what ABY you are utilizing.
I need one that is "seamless" so that I can operate off two channels of the board R/L panned for expression Centered for thickness.

As for the original question:

We are working on:

1) Recording our first CD titled the same as our recently released MV.
2) New music as well as reworking older music to become a little more
complex.
3) Establishment of a "not for profit" organization to help our other Gospel related bands and musicians, as well as continue our mission.

Personally I am working on improving my skill level at playing lead guitar.

George, I am using the Radial Engineering Tonebone. It is small (doesn't need much real estate), it has a ground lift and that thing makes my amps QUIET! It also has a 180 switch to keep your amps in phase. It also has an isolation transformer. It doesn't have a indicator light but I don't need that and if it had one it would need power of which it doesn't need as it is. It cost $80.00. I have played with it for a couple of hrs. just to make sure it won't give me any problems at the gig this weekend!

Oh yeah you can run it backwards and use 2 guitars into one amp with it. While mounting the pedals and power I did come across a mistake that has a good outcome. Basically on the clean amp signal I am using a Chorus factory into a Sonic Stomp then into the front end of the amp. While mounting the pedals I accidently turned the high process knob all the way up. When I turned everything on I tried different combinations from both amps of which there are many. I wound up turning both amps on clean the crate had the higher frequencies boosted (sonic stomp) and the carvin has a darker sound with the delay on. DAYUM it sounded SOOoooo GOOD that is the ultimate clean sound. I have read that while recording albums the old school players would run multiple amps one dark and one bright and this really gives you a HUGE sound.
