No, 'scooping the mids' means turning down the mids (typical EQ for guitars) Think a 'smiley face' on a multi-band graphic equalizer.

You need to carve out a place in the mix for each instrument - guitars and vocals (and some piano) use the mids for the bulk of their sound, so end up competing with each other. By scooping the guitar EQ, it lets the piano come forward a little.
Then the next trick is to 'duck' the piano and guitars to the vocals - basiclaly when the vocals are ON, lower the volume on those instruments that are competing for the frequencies at the same time. Ducking can be done manually (automating the volumes) or automatically, using a compressor on the instruments that is driven by the vocals.

You had to go googling a forum back to 2007 to confirm what I said?
Although used for heavy metal, the point is to EQ your instruments so that each gets its own place in your mix.

I think it sounds great, especially love the song and your performance of it.

You're a damn good songwriter, dawg. Not many of those these days.

Interesting. Thanks for that Info. Before I say anything to George, I wanna see how he does it for final Mix. I know He kinda slapped this down and dirty and leveled it off the hip.
