The story is running on dozens of sites, so it's likely true, however, I was not able to find any conclusive fact-checking that proves it.

Huffington post does quote a Romney staffer as it's source, though. Generally they don't make up sources like that, in fact, even fox doesn't do that.

So consider that it's most likely true.
