General Music Chat

I am 17 years old and have been playing rhythm guitar for about 10 months. I am self taught and looking for some people in the to play some heavy metal or punk rock with.I am looking for anybody interested that's lives in Arizona whether it is a drummer, bassist, lead guitarist, or singer. I would be willing to play any genre of the music below.


SPEED METAL/ POWER METAL: Blind guardian, Hammerfall, Helloween, Manowar ect...

THRASH METAL: Megadeth, Anthrax, Testament, Anvil, Overkill ect...

TRADITIONAL METAL: Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Accept, Saxon, Black Sabbath ect…

PUNK/ HARDCORE: Dead Kennedys, Sex Pistols, The Adicts, Black flag, DRI, (Early) Suicidal Tendencies ect...

OR CLASSIC ROCK: Rush, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, ect.

At your age and level of experience, I would ask around at school - talk to your music teachers, etc.
Stay in school, get a decent education, about 0.00001% of all musicians make a living doing nothing but music.

Thanks! the only problem is that i'm doing online school in order to have a better chance to get a part time job. I posted some notes on bulletin boards at local music stores, but nothings come up yet. hopefully something does! plus, many people my age dont listen to this kind of music sadly, but maybe something will turn up soon!

You should play whatever you can get! Experience is Experience! The lead guitarist of A7X played Jazz growing up. Other genres give you a different sound and feel

Tons of Metal bands in Phoenix and some are quite good. Hit craigslist.

i know what you mean tyler; its just that i dont know that much jazz or blues songs. if you give me some good songs to learn ill try them out though. i definitely appreciate the genre and diversity

and i know many metal bands here in az, but all of them live in tempe! but ill be sure to try craigslist. thanks.
