Tams

Options:

1) get an electric guitar and small amp. Much easier to play particularly for people with small hands (like female peopele!) Very cheap for a passible guitar and amp these days. You can get really small amps too if you are playing solo or some such.

2) Use power chords. (two or three string chords) They are easier to play, don't put as much excess noise out, and can be used against both major and minor keys - your ear will tell you. A bonus is that once you use them a bit you'll see they work in patterns simliar to your E position and A position chords. Time savers, easy and sound good.

3) Use a capo.

Key thing is to not let the guitar get in the way of your songs. (speaking to self here as well).

Tammy - for a year and a half, you are doing good! My first few months on guitar I could only wrap my thumb around on the second fret to play fake Em, Esus, A and Dmaj7 (fake F#m)!
It's tough to find the time for regular practice when Real Life takes precendence.
After playing for more than 40 years, my figertip calluses are just starting to toughen up again after 2+ months with the new band.

Mike Talbot - Tammy has found a solution - getting others to record the instruments! I'm working on one right now with her.

I use these get local sites, for example I type
in "live music springfield mo", then I can find
where all the local artists are playing, and get
out and network with these other musicians. Also
it shows me the time slots available to play at the
different venues, I like the 6-9 pm shift or 7-10 pm
my price goes way up when I have to play out late,
I also like the lunch work period.

I think your right JW, but if you use the internet to
set up a plan of attack and know just what your going
for there are a lot of websites that work.

FBob I don't know the names of the sites I visit, I just keep
typing in variations of "live music(bands, performers, venues,
etc.... springfield mo" This is where the internet has been
most effective for me.

I haven't ever done worth sh*t on craigslist, and BM has
always been about the forum for me
