Sean after posting that I really started thinking about you as a guitarist.
On this site you get slammed for the samo samo thing all the time.
If you research Eddie Van Halen there are bootleg recordings on thier club days and Eddie might do a 10 minute solo, and what I always notice is that he kinda does like you, does the same licks over and over. It sounds great, but kinda gets boring over time to listen to, even by a guitarist like me.
When Van Halen recorded thier first album, Eddie was just noodling on Eruption and they heard it and said hey lets record it. When they did they cut it down to the bare minimum. Turned it into what a minute and a half. And most would say guitar history was made in that decision to include it on thier first album.
What you might try with the solo you posted was do the same, cut it down to say 2 minutes, not repeating the same riffs in it, maybe give it some space here and there so it breaths more, kinda like a vocalist.
I appreciate your skills as a guitarist, but in my own case, Ive been going thru video's of my band live and sometimes I just over do solos, put way too many notes in them, and it seems that the solos that I took some pauses in and let breath have more emotion in them than the ones where I just went for it.
I hope what Ive said makes sense, I dont know what your real goal is in your videos, to just show off, or to get a gig, or what, only you know that, but if these are auditions you might want to show your diversity in your videos, say for from a bluesy type deal to one of your burst, then maybe some sort of chicken picking or jazz type burst, do it in small doses and it might come across better to someone listening.
Good Luck and Keep On Rocking and Sharin Your Talents!
