In the wake of President Kennedy's assassination in 1963, a wave of sympathy and public support enabled President Johnson to pass a number of Kennedy Administration proposals including the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Building on this momentum, Johnson introduced his own vision for America: "the Great Society" -- in which America ended poverty, promoted equality, improved education, rejuvenated cities, and protected the environment. This became the blueprint for the most far-reaching agenda of domestic legislation since the New Deal -- legislation that has had a profound effect on American society.

He had the Utopian Dream... Back then , The economics of the times gave him a filtered perspective of how that dream was gonna get paid for... Mind you, his dream was getting funded by the gov Hardware/weapons contracts that DC landed form the Vietnam war. In fact, He applied the standard and conventional "Guns & Butter" philosophy. His effort to promote the Great Society was more about obtaining as much political capitol as he could to justify the Guns side of his economic windfall plan...

Clinton did the same damn thing years later with the Balkans conflict. Told rumors of "Genocide" to persuade democrats to pile their money into Hardware and weapons,...so as to fund the Kosovo invasion... Clinton didnt give a sh*t about the 'suffering' Albanians (Whom the Serbs had been killing, to protect themselves from Albanian brand of terrorism... before it was cool to kill terrorists)

In fact, Almost ever freaking war we have been in, with the exception GWB's revenge war, has been started and funded through democrat regimes.
