"Why not go to a local music store and talk to the young folks that work there who sell the very instrument you play...maybe they would have some ideas.
Call some keyboard instructors, take some lessons and start making connections that way."
Good idea, but there is just one problem with that. Guitar players and drummers are more popular in my city than keyboard players, thus most music stores are going to sell guitars and drums and not have much interest in keyboards. And also pop and soft rock music is NOT popular amongst my age group within my city. Everybody who is an active musician in my city prefers playing hard rock, heavy metal, and classic rock.
I don't need to take lessons because I already know most of the basics, and I'm trying to reach musicians who can help me expand my sound and help me move beyond playing covers of pop and soft rock songs and start writing some originals together. There aren't a lot of casual keyboard teachers around in my city, and the ones who do teach piano/keyboard there audience is aimed at school age kids and teens, not adults.
I'm trying to reach guys who already have a good solid understanding of music theory and know and like most of the songs and artists I can currently play and which I'm currently working on.
If someone on here could help me find some of these keyboard teachers, and keyboard selling music stores, I might consider giving that a try.
