The gig went PERFECT! They had us set up over the bar. I haven't had that much fun in a while! It is all guitar stuff Hendrix, Kiss, Judas Priest, Petty, Bad Co, Guns and Roses, ZZTop, Eddie Money, I kicked a$$ on Honkey Tonk Woman. I was amazed how hard that song is to learn in A440 tuning when the stones are tuned to a G. I could do a video on how to relpicate that song in standard tuning. I played Eruption-Panama and nailed that MUTHA! They do sons in groups of 2 like Star Spangled Banner-Come Together!

Glad you had a good gig and ripped it up Jeff. I still can't believe you worked up 50 songs in a week. I am right there with you on Honky Tonk Woman in std tuning. It's a bitch! I worked that one up for a sit-in with the Blues Doctors on NYE and it was a PITA (I learned 3 new songs for that gig  ). It is so simple and intuitive in open G tuning. Next time I am bringing 2 guitars and keep one in open G just to cover Keith Richards and for a little slide work.

I thought about bringing a guitar tuned to G but I am a diehard and decided to just learn it. It really took me closer to 1.5 weeks to learn those songs I just want to clarify that!

How did you know (SRV) LOL!

Well he called me and asked what I was doing this Friday! So I am playing with him Friday and Mission Imposter Sat. doing the same thing next weekend on Sat. & Sun.
It looks like I will be playing a lot! I could use the extra money as my son is graduating this month! :D

Way to go Haley, those 3 piece gigs are the funest for me, especially the material you said you guys were doing!

I havent done one of those in a couple of years, but they sure help bringing your chops around, I have always loved digging back in the past for old songs that Ive played and not played in a while, most of them seem to fall in place real quick, plus if the other guys are open, its a great vehicle to get your yas-yas out playing leads.

COngrats on your son graduating, and keep on rockin!
