Tyler i was being sarcastic when I said maybe a hot rod guitar on top would make me want to listen more.
I know you took what I said in a negative way. But your title said tell me what genre is my music, I was honest in my own opinion. I read the thread one day and wasnt able to listen to it, someone said something about Dream Theatre a band I love to listen too, so when I heard that and time signatures, in my head Im thinking cool, King Crimson, ELP, Yes, Holdsworth, something truelly unique, but when I turned it on, it was just MUZAK to my ears, dont belive me get in an elevator at almost any shopping mall and you will hear your genre.
For me it has nothing to do with liking the genre or not, people make all sorts of music, and you have obviously taken the time to make your music, I respect that.
When i read your profile it said you programmed your drums, you have talent right there, Im too lazy myself to do that, when I record an original I just throw it down, and it has all its warts to show for it. In fact later I thought man I wish this guy lived down the street from me, cause I would honestly pay you to program drums for my own stuff.
You have great recording skills, great programming skills, you also have great bass chops, I cant deny that, and didnt slam that side of it in anyway.
For me you just made a bold statement and didnt back that side of it up, I was dissapointed because I expected to hear something i hadnt ever heard before.
If you want to continue in music and you should get used to people busting your bubble every now and then, cause you will get a lot more no's in this business than yes's.
As I said with your production skills and such you would be great in my mind doing soundtracks of some sort. There is nothing wrong with that, look up Jan Hammer, he has made a fortune doing just that.
Good Luck
