Now if Sheldon also played in a punk rock band I would probably watch the show lol.

Long lives nerds!

In Hollywood, isnt "charicature" the standard format for most sit-coms? Its a 2--dimensional rendition of a character in a given plot & Theme. Dont viewers know this going into it (especially after years and years of Batman And Robin shows, etc ).

Now am I being unreasonable if at this point I just presume that the Sex Pistols, after disrespecting my Hall of Fame Museum (and given their violent history), are quite possibly the biggest c**k s**king a$$ holes of the universe. More to the point... Where in that, should I feel compelled to bother "trying" to get to know these guys? Since they set the standard for Punk years ago, I'm inclined to take a leap and just presume that anybody who idolizes them, understanding their angst and behaviors, are equally as bad... An NO, there is no argument that successfully works against it... You cant say.. "I don't like what Hitler did to the Jews, but I understand it" and expect others to "presume" you arente somehow infected with anti-semetic stances.

I suppose you have a valid point about stereo-types...but there's a lot to be said about PR and appearance...and quite frankly, I will NEVER apologize for the label I am compelled to put on these guys, specifically, nor will I apologize for remaining skeptical with tendancies to being pre-judgmental of all subsequent followers.. Anybody who says they don't ever prejudge like that is a liar.

I am always open to being proved wrong... So if you say you are a nerd, that kind of softens my take on my previous stance.... If you say you aren't like the sex pistols even though you are a punker, And if its the truth, that further softens my stance... Until one day, I really know you and gain better understanding. Then I'
m inclined to lift my presumptions all together...

In the meantime, SHeldon is Sheldon the nerd until proven that he is not Sheldon the nerd.

Your Hall of Fame? When did they move it to El Paso?

But seriously, a lot of people have strong objections to the R&RHOF. They have infamously passed over many bands and even whole genres (prog-rock bands are largely ignored, as are most punk bands) while bands that aren't even close to r&r are inducted. Etta James and Brenda Lee were great singers but not really rock and roll. Meanwhile bands such as Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Yes and many others are ignored. Finally, the Pistols wouldn't be part of any organization that would have them as members! That is punk!

Here's the quote from WikiPedia:

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has garnered criticism for allegedly allowing the nomination process to be controlled by a few individuals, nominating too many artists in too many genres that are not entirely rock, ignoring entire rock genres, and using technicalities to induct groups who may not have been among the top vote getters. The surviving members of the Sex Pistols, who were inducted in 2006, refused to attend the ceremony, calling the museum a "piss stain."

Why Cant I own the Museum But still Live in El Paso :?

I get the Pistols (Truthfully I dont "hate" them personally, but I was making a point that others could and would, just based on the 2-D representation) Were all susceptible to falling in that trap

I agree that the R&R museum... has made decisions short of competant on the bands that were overlooked, etc... But Again, My point was merely to illustrate the 2-D perspective

The WIKI quote...Now It was not my intention, but after you re posted the full paragraph, it occurred to me that not only do we get the 2-D perspective, but even then, sometimes a context is left out of the equation...(i.e additional info)

So Yeah I agree about the dangers of Stero-typing, but I also see that a lil responsibility from the subject's image casting wouldn't hurt. We cant ever go wrong with the full truth...

I'm off TV until the new season starts: The Walking Dead.

Seriously though - there is just no time for that.
