That's what they gave me and it worked fine along with the anti-biotics. 3 days before I received shingles, I played in this stank bar and they think I most likely got it from just shaking hands with one of the patrons or using their bathroom! My rash was pretty painful all down my lower back down to the tail of the spine....still have scars! I was actually lucky as I was informed that 90% of shingle sufferers actually get the rash on their face and become scarred for life!
You can acquire Chicken pox from others, not to my knowledge, shingles.
Shingles is an outbreak of the dormant varcella virus hiding in your nerve tissue.
Physiological stress usually trigger the outbreak along the dermatones.
I have seen thousands of cases of shingles in the hospital. Most are to the back and buttocks. In my experience outbreaks to the face are very rare.
But then most of my patients are > 70 years old ( more like 80 - 90 ).
There may be a difference in that population? Who knows.
