Oy...I have almost stopped flying because I tire of being treated like a criminal by TSA just because I have a guitar. But apparently, depending on which guitar I carry, I might just be a "criminal" according to this news article.

I bought a Gibson Smartwood guitar back in 1998 made from some exotic wood harvested from the rainforest in Brazil. They were a limited quanity produced I think . I love the way the Les Pauls play and sound but the weight was a hinderence until I found this one which weighs about half of my other Les Pauls. I always was afraid that there might be someone wanting to take away my guitar because of some idiot out there thats more worried a tree wasn't burned after being cut down instead of being made into a thing of beauty. I guess when I travel to gig out of the country I will leave my wood at home .

Did anyone else hear that it was a major competitor of Gibson that turned them in? I heard that on a news break today.

Mark Levin interviewed the CEO of Gibson last night about this government intrusion. The CEO said that they raided every Gibson plant. He said armed men came crashing through the doors with guns drawn, chased all the personal out of the shops and locked them down while they confiscated records, pallets of wood and hard drives. Even though Gibson supplied all documentation proving the woods were obtained legally, the gov agents would not back down. When Gibson stated that they were complying with the laws of the countries that sold the woods, our gov made exception and changed the interpretation of those laws. Yet no other guitar companies were subject to the new interpretations.

Gibson went to court to try to put a hold on these actions as they were shutting down production to a great degree and costing them a lot of money. The government went after the judge and told him they could not hear Gibson's appeal because it might hinder the gov investigation.

As the interview continued the CEO stated that no other guitar company was raided, even though they all bought their wood from the very same suppliers. Gibson was singled out from all the other guitar manufacturers for no apparent reason.

Sounds a lot like a they want to start selling Bomatar Guitars, after all, they are doing so great with gov cars inc.

This is just the proof of government gone wild.

If these assholes keep pushing this crap down the average law abiding, gentle, societal loving,,,,

Well,,,

SHOTGUN BABY.

Touch my Les Paul and I'm pulling the trigger of anything I can find. Hopefully it will be an RPG aimed right up your ass!
