Man oh man, I'm like a snail when it comes to recording projects. Anyhow...was fooling around last night with a solo tone for a Spirit In The Sky cover I started last year, and I'm liking the contrast of the fuzzbox part, and the overdrive part thru the same amp...Maybe I'll get off my lazy ass and finish the tune this weekend (like THAT'S gonna happen  )

I could listen to that song everyday and never get tired of it. The first guitar does have a great sound. On the second guitar try recording that in stereo with a wide pan and change the EQ with just a little more pull "less" around the 420hz to 800hz

I like that song too. And far a snails go ... I feel your pain.
Wish I had about $5K to throw at our project.
But I suppose we will keep gigging and praying ... for now.

Thanks for the tip..I'm thinking even a change in mic placement is going to get that solo sound very close to the mark. Yeah, that fuzz part came out nice...you find a lot of hate online for the standard Dunlop Fuzz Face reissue that I used, but I think it sounds great for all that old stuff, and versatile too...the first solo in my Hotel California guitar karaoke was done with the same amp, and fuzz, but with less direct mic aiming, and a humbucker Les Paul instead of a single coil Gretsch like on the "Spirit" cover.
