September 7, 2010
R&B songstress Alicia Keys has just released a new software program for aspiring musicians. Partnering with software instrument company Native Instruments, “Alicia’s Keys,” is a new piano software. According to the press release, the virtual piano program, which is the first of its kind, “emulates Keys’ Yamaha C3 Neo Grand Piano and allows musicians of all levels to recreate the rich sounds that embody her soulful music.”
Working with her engineer, Keys’ software is designed to simplify the recording process for the neophyte artist as well as seasoned professional. In fact, the artist’s current album, “The Element of Freedom,” was created totally on the software. It’s also been used on her recent tours.
“I wanted to be able to take my piano sound on the road with me as well as have it any time I wanted to record.” Keys continues, “We all got together in my studio and started to create it by going through this long process of sampling, recording every note, sound and expressive nuance. We ended up with my entire piano in virtual form.”
