Boyz showed up on time and we loaded out in record time as well.
Got to the amphitheater and got set up again in record time ready to roll.
Go to do sound check ... no power ??
I'd told the sponsor group we had had this experience before at this venue but they insisted that they had played here recently with no issues.
So we contact the City and a very pleasant gent showed up and got the power up and running to the pavilion for the food and drinks but no luck to the stage. So the City fellow contacts the power company whom send out a bucket truck and electrician to check it out.
The transformer is blown and leaking oil all over one of the singers vehicle.
The gig that was slated to start at 4 began at 7.
We had food and drinks and a decent crowd despite the heat, humidity, and the uncertainty of even getting the event off the ground.
We ( all the musos ) hung tough, shortened our sets and when the cheering of the crowed indicated the power was on we delivered the good.
We rocked, we actually signed some autographs. LOL.
I was sweating so profusely that I had to play mostly by feel from the sweat in my eyes.

It may have taken us four hour to get it done.
But we kicked Murphy'sASS .

Glad you got to play after all that. Our benefit gig was indoors but the thermostat said 90 degrees the whole time. We played for 2 straight hours with some breaks to raffle off items. I kept pouring water on my head and back, of course it would get all over my guitar also. LOL

I actually had considered to go to a big country music jam in a city about 30 miles from here. It always takes place in a big park. It rained every morning from Thursday until this Sunday morning.

The jam was a washout. Only about 10 people showed up from what one of the people told me. The two people that hold the top office in the Country Music Association didn't want to be responsible for anything, even they are heading it up. The delegated all the responsibility to several other people who volunteered and at the last moment made excuses and backed out. Someone sent the club PA to the park without any power cords to hook to it. The musicians who were committed to showing up didn't. Fortunately, my friends called me from a cell phone and let me in on the situation so I wouldn't get caught in a possible afternoon storm.

The musicians around here are some of the flakiest, most undependable, full of themselves I have ever met. Thus one of the biggest reasons that I do not participate.
