Oooo, I got a good one!
Not about out of key, but it's blatant f-up that actually made it into final copy.

Iron Maiden - Hallowed be thy name

At 7 seconds the bell and the music falls out of time. Then at 8 seconds it REALLY falls out of time.
Obvious as hell.
Sounds like they had to splice tape to make it all sync up.
Funny how I didn't notice it as a youngster though.

The biggie version is a slide up. The Herb song is a hammer on. It does not sound like a sample to me. They could have just played it on a bass or a synth. I always thought it was a Michael McDonald sample. But listening back that would be even more work to sample and edit. Could have been done though.

On a side note.... I LOVE Herb Alpert!!!

You are absolutely right! They could have transposed it digitally. WHy didn't they. See, rap is no excuse to reduce musicianship. You have a good ear and pay attention to detail. That is what counts in any musical genre...period.

The phrase that starts at 2:17.
The capitalized words in the following lyrics are OFF KEY!!!

Imma be in the club doin whatEVER II LIKE. Imma be poppin that BUBBLY, COOLIN AND LIVIN' THAT GOOD LIFE.

I just don't understand how the producers came to the conclusion that that sounds good. I like that song. I like the black eyed peas. I just don't get this off key crap. Perhaps I'm getting old. Perhaps this is exactly how people felt about bent blues notes. Notes that I think of as emotional. Maybe people used to think they were just bad before the blues so hugely influenced the world. I mean people around the world become accustomed to semi-tones in their daily consumed music. Maybe it's just what we get used to through exposure.

Funny, but that is my favorite part of that song. I think that it is just the transitional affect and it makes sense to me. The words are stooopid and it should have a stooopid sounding key. I think that it works in this case.Yes, it is comparable to bending notes and it sounds more deliberate in this case. In Biggies case it sounded like they had no clue that they were sing in a different key.

I must also say...Fergie can sing her a** off.
