General Music Chat

You know, I suppose "general chat" would be the most appropriate forum category for non musical posts, so I don't really begrudge ANYONE here posting their interests that have nothing to do with music. Knock yourselves out. But I can't get a handle on the mind set of some our musical brethren here that seem to be in a constant state of worry and concern. This whole "Hey duuude, ignore what the man is up to at your own peril" school of posts is just getting boring. And heaven help you if you either disagree, or state that you just don't care, because of course that makes you a right wing pud wad in their eyes. I consider my ideology right up the middle, swaying slightly left or right depending on the issue. This whole recent American phenomenon of everyone being either far left, or far right, and at each other's throats is such a curious thing to observe from the outside looking in. I look at your media pundits like Beck and Limbaugh on the right, and Matthews, and Olbermann on the left as equally guilty of cynical douchebaggery. Anyhow just had to get this off my chest, and will stick to musical subjects from here on, as I foolishly remain oblivious to the boogie men that are out to get me.

The level of emotion is a result of what is seen to be at stake. If someone values their country, and is convinced that it is not only suffering, but being driven down even further, by bad financial decisions and poor policy, then that person will be pretty upset.

I get the whole... "Don't worry, be happy" thing. But honestly... if it was your HOUSE we were talking about, you wouldn't say "who cares?" or "I just don't get all the emotion over this?" - If it was your own home you were concerned over, the emotion level would be high. This is our NATION we are talking about. We have a long history of operating under a wonderful Constitution, and having our belief in freedom, and a strong work ethic and values, translate into our also being a wealthy, and consequentially, a powerful nation as well. Many people here, still tear up, when the National Anthem is played, or when they see the flag waving in the breeze, or watch our military depart for foreign shores.

Most of us still KNOW the price paid, to make us what we are.

To watch politicians and money laundering bankers TRAMPLE ALL OVER IT, is an absolute OUTRAGE!!!

I have a line in a song of mine, that goes...

"I won't disrespect the blood, of martyrs and patriots, who paid the highest price, to give those rights to us!"

It's not just Obama, or politicians in general... but SCHOOLS too, today, are devaluing key portions of American history, teaching students that America or Democracy, is really no better than any other country... any other system... They emphasize more now, our past mistakes, than our strengths and values.

Why would any young person want to defend a country that was trashed by their teachers for years and years? Why would any young person want to be loyal or be proud of a country portrayed as a bully, rather than one which was fair and generous? It's alot easier to not defend... or even to BETRAY... a nation you do not believe in.

Many of us are DEEPLY CONCERNED over, where our nation is heading Dajax.

Obama represented HOPE to many people, because they bought into the idea that 8 years of Gerge Bush was the cause of all the world's problems, and simply getting a bright, well spoken man, like Obama into the White House, would just correct every problem and make us economically healthy again!

But "The Who" had some memorable lyrics on that idea...
