Another dumbass thread.

I think this gal rocks, I think I said that in another thread.

Whoever said the thing about money needs to learn something. It takes big money to break an artist, period. I dont understand why that makes an artist any lesser than they are. I guess your a metalhead, cause metal heads always seem to slam anyone for selling out in any way. But if you for instance got the oppurtunity to go all the way and had soemone with big money to back you, what would you do? Turn it down. I wouldnt, not that anyone would offer me anything. But if you want to get your music to the masses it takes a hell of a lot more than posting a few songs on myspace or facebook. I personally cant even imagine, but our singer had an original band that had soem recognition a few years ago. He talked to me about getting on the road with his band. These guys were all established in life and they were going to have to generate around $13,500 a week to consider getting on the road and touring. If they played 6 nights a week thats $2250 per gig they would have to generate. To break an artist, someone has to back them so they get the chance, cause lots of gigs are basically for free and PR. I dont know how anyone could make it these days without selling out in some way.

I hope you achieve whatever it is you want to achieve musically, hopefully you wont have to sell out to do it!

Holy hell batman! You're another victim of SELECTIVE READING. Go back and see where I said that she's a good player and singer and that I'm not bitching about big money, and that I was just stating truthful facts. No where did I slam her. I just don't think that she's all that good, just as you probably don't like a lot of the players that I like. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and mine is surely no different than yours as far as value goes...they're just different. That being said...

The last time that I was here...which was some time ago, you all were a lot different people to discuss things with. Now a lot of you have become selective readers and only respond to things that are NOT the complete thoughts. You've soured and it's not my fault.

You of all people, JW, had some good insight for me personally the last time that I was here. I'm no different now other than being a better player at this point than last time. I'm really disappointed that you would try to approach me in the way that you did, but in the end...none of it matters anyway. Right.

Hey I can man up. I dont read all the bs that gets posted. I just saw where you took the old high road about selling out.

This gal is on her way, I dont care for her pop songs, I like the stuff she does with Vai.

I took your post to say that she was no good cause it was taking big money to break. It takes big money to break anyone. It takes a lot of money to just get out and play in a local cover band and cover the advertising that goes with it. Someone has to make the effort to get the word out. I know all about the cover band local side of it. I also know a few who have taken shots at the big time and seen what goes into that. Its not really about talent, I think its about persistence and just keeping your head down, even when you get slammed for soemthing you are doing. Im getting older and do realize that these days there are lots of ways to make it that I dont even comprehend.

Your right it doesnt matter what anyone says on here. Thats why lots of times I question even making a comment, guess I should just keep my mouth shut, or my fingers still.

Have a Good Un

LOL

There are millions of guitar players better than me.

You can tell how much I care by measuring the distance between my balls.

I get to play, and I love it ... what else really matters ??

ORIANTHI is on the cover of May's Musician's Friend catalog.

Couldn't fine the cover online, but she is also on the Musician's Friend site, which I linked below.

I went to her MySpace, and was surprised that she had a hit song out: "According to You" - I have heard this song on the radio a few times, but I didn't know it was her song!

I was telling Devin about our earlier discussion here and he told me that she was the one singing on the song "According To You". I didn't believe him but I did notice a decent guitar solo on the song.
