Hayden brother,

I am all too familiar with all of it.

The Board of Governors for the Federal Reserve have stated:

It is not 'owned' by anyone and is 'not a private, profit-making institution'. Instead, it is an independent entity within the government, having both public purposes and private aspects."

It's purpose according to the Federal Reserve Act:

Federal Reserve Act, such as "to furnish an elastic currency, to afford means of rediscounting commercial paper, to establish a more effective supervision of banking in the United States, and for other purposes."

Don't you love that?

The Federal Reserve, admits, they exist also, for "private aspects", and for "other purposes".

"My fear is that we have opened way to many doors to the new American ideal.
WHATEVER YOU CAN STEAL ,,,,DO IT.

This incudes CEOs, senators and congressman, judges, union leaders, churches, charitable organizations, world leaders, and yes past and present ,presidents of OUR country."

Glen, this is the direct result of an unregulated capitalist system. The years since Reagan have been jam-packed with these attitudes, & he was responsible for much of it all, with his deregulation of the market, the banks, etc. When there is no one watching the crooks, they become ever more bold. So has our gov't, in taxing us more & more, which was begun during his term.

The recent Lehman & Goldman Sachs actions prove my point. The growing socio-economic & political power of other supercorporations also back me up.

During the 60's & 70's, did any of us dare to even dream that the co's we work for would be allowed to check out our personal habits, with drug tests & the like? Roadway spot-checks for drug & alcohol use or possession? Did any of us believe that the banks would fail us again, as they did in '29? Wasn't the gov't supposed to be watching out for us, here? What has happened to our freedom to live as we choose, as long as we can remain contributing members of society? Our co's & our gov't has become far too interested in our private lives, & far too disinterested in keeping us free, & safe, & profitably contributing members of society.

All of the unthinkable & unconscionable acts that have occured in our economy in the last 30 years can be traced to either deregulation, or to the failure of those watchdog agencies to do thier sworn duty.
