Meat Loaf fears for Boyle

Meat Loaf (WENN.COM)

Veteran singer Meat Loaf is "legitimately worried" about Susan Boyle - he fears the Scottish sensation is too "fragile" to survive in the music industry.

The 62-year-old rocker has enjoyed a lengthy career in the spotlight, with recording credits stretching over 40 years.

Meat Loaf admits he has become a big fan of Boyle since she shot to fame on TV contest Britain's Got Talent last year, but he's worried she hasn't got the stamina to stay in the public eye.

Boyle was admitted to a rehab clinic in London shortly after the TV show ended to be treated for exhaustion and she hit headlines again when she was snapped sobbing and sucking her thumb following a promotional event in New York in November. She most recently sparked fears for her health after she collapsed at a London airport in February, and Meat Loaf is adamant fame is having a negative impact on the singer's life.

He says, "I'm legitimately worried about her. Is she OK? She seems so fragile. How far can Susan Boyle go? I don't know."

And the singer would relish the chance to have a chat with Boyle's mentor, Britain's Got Talent judge Simon Cowell, to help him understand the pressure of life on the stage.

He adds, "I wanna talk to him really bad and say, 'You have really good instincts but you've never walked on stage before in your life.' before you start telling somebody what to do, you have to understand the principals of the stage."

I fear for her, too. She's too fragile a person to be in anyone's spotlight.

Her story proves that we all aren't built for acclaim, fame & "success."

(Maybe that's why I never accomplished it!)

I beleive if she were to surround herself with the right people she could do it, just not some bloodsucking entourage or a bunch of bottom feeders!

That, in a nutshell, describes the problems inherent in becoming an instant celebrity, JH. There's no support, & no chance of developing the right friendships that you have with the slow climb to success.

Yeah... I've always said that KISS really had the right idea: They had money and fame, but since they wore make-up, they could pretty much go out after the show in street clothes, and nobody would know who they were.

You could never, ever pay me enough to live 'publicly'. Imagine getting up in the morning and getting ready to go to work. You step outside and 30 people jump out, start taking pictures of you, and screaming questions and comments. I can't even imagine.

Funny thing...I'e been collecting concert DVD's lately...I recently bought Meatloaf "3 Bats Live (2007)".

The band is awesome.
The other vocalist are incredible (Aspen Vincent is a knockout, too).
Meatloaf...sucks.

You can barely make out a word of what he sings. It's sad, really. I grew up a big fan of his, but I think it's time to pack it in. :(

I know you folks are gonna say how old he is, but I also recently purchased the Eagles Live in Melbourne and...they are note for note PERFECT...and not exactly spring chickens themselves.

True Joseph.

I've seen recent concert footage and he SUCKS now.

But there are die-hard fans that don't care. It's all nostalgic for them. They are still filling large venues for him.

Must be nice.

Can you imagine going fro virtual obscurity to world fame instantly? I'm not sure anybody could adjust to that without some trials and tribulations. Susan Boyle basically spent most of her time at home with her cats. IMO her best bet would be to still do the same and only go into the studio to record periodically. She could still make a good living and keep her sanity at the same time.

I can only speculate but my take is:

She was fragile to begin with or she would have taken the voice out of the comfort of her home long before this. This opportunity presented itself and she probably said to herself, if I don't try this I will wonder for the rest of my life if I could have done anything with this talent. I don't think she thought it would get very far or not nearly the reaction from the world. Literally!

We all fantasize a little bit about fame. I don't want it but I do want to have fun singing and making music.
