One time when I was about thirteen I went fishing with a neighbor who took us out in his boat. We stopped at the marina and he brought in his outboard to have it tuned up. Next day we went back and he brought his outboard motor to the boat and was leaning over the boat to put the motor on it when he disappeared into the water holding his motor. He didn't come up for a LONG time then came up with weeds covering his head. His motor was stuck in the mud on the bottom. He had to get a few of the mechanics to come and retrieve his motor and have it completely cleaned and tuned up again...

That broken rod in the tail gate thing is very firmiliar to me.

I've bisted them in the windows of my car when I closed them as I was driving. I like to stick 'em out the window, standing up out of the back seat in a car. Makes me feel stupid when I do that stuff, though.

I was eating greasy chicken once, in my canoe, & cast my entire rod right out of my hand into the deep lake last spring. I didn't say anything about it at the time cuz I was so embarassed, but seeing this guy do that stuff makes me feel a little bit better about it all. That was a $35 rod & reel, though, & if I hadn't had friends nearby in thier own canoe, I'd have likely hollared about it. I didn't say anything at the time, though, & I think they missed my dumb clumsyness...

I wonder how many of these pratfalls were staged or maybe he was just a clutz. Also one helluva good fisherman...

I picked up his bloopers dvd a while back but it only had the last 2 on it, never saw the others but always thought the goose incident was great. That one and the 4 wheeler are the only ones on my dvd.

If you see a copy of the whole bloopers dvd grab it, some good stuff. Walks up to a pond and falls in twice, then jumps in...the goose of course, which is a lot longer, that goose harassed him for several minutes. He also glued a fishing lure to the cameraman's hand once, after a few of the cameraman's pranks...great stuff.

I've broken rods in car doors too, my uncle and father both threw rods in the lake, I threw a lure one day and the wind caught it, blew it into a tree trunk and the lure broke in half, slipped out of the boat with the same Motorguide trolling motor (but black) and still had the switch in my hand, fun getting it stopped without getting my legs into the prop...I'm sure a few others would have been good if someone had been around with a video camera. I'm glad noone ever was...

Yep, broke a number of fishing rod tips in doors. My girfriend threw me a boat cushion one time and it fell all of about a foot and hit my rod which was propped up on the seat and it broke of course. It was my all-time favorite Pflueger rod (my favorite rods are Pfluegers). I just about cried. I've also cast parts of reels into lakes before, didn't know they were loose (it pays to tighten ALL the screws on your reels periodically). I also have left tackle boxes and landing nets behind. I lost a tackle box full of Mepps Comet Minnos and Mepps Aglia Streamers (OUCH$$). Some lucky fisherman is still using them I bet. The all-time dumbest thing I ever did was leave a stringer of fish we had just caught in the parking lot. About half way home I asked my fishing buddy if he put the stringer in the trunk, he thought I did it. It was a blistering hot day, I'm sure the fish were about fried before anybody found them. Many years ago I used to store nightcrawlers in a refrigerator we had downstairs. I plum forgot they were there and about two months later I opened the frig door and I mean to tell you there is NO WORSE STENCH ON GOD'S EARTH THAN A BUNCH OF LONG-DEAD NIGTHCRAWLERS...
