GuitarMikeB wrote:'Sounds stupid at face value' - EXACTLY! The man can't express himself clearly, yet people (like you) jump on board to defend his idiotic statements. He's the f**k' president, shouldn't he be intelligent enough not to constantly put his foot in his mouth?

BTW, I'm all for IDs required to vote. In my town, there's no ID required, but they have a list of residents/addresses. You show up, tell them your address, they check it, check you off the list (so you can't vote twice), done.

I see past the idiotic statement...(I'm use to it by now) in the end it's crystal clear to me. He wants an id requirement to vote... Hyperbole Trump-speak or whatever you want to call it is focusing on the wrong thing....

Do you think most people know what he was trying to say?
Probably
Did he get his point across like a champion orator...
Hell no...
In the end was the message received... not the sloppy delivery.... the message
Yes...
Yet the focus is on the sloppy delivery hyperbole crap.
You even said yourself you're all for the ID requirement.

I think we can both agree he's probably one of if not the worse speaker at his position in our lifetime and that's saying much considering Dubya's abuse of the English language...no eloquence whatsoever.
But honestly I just want to see some things get done that I agree with for once...
So I'm not defending the quality of his delivery... everyone can see what a mess that has been. Just the intended content. That I believe most get and agree on...

Recently, they changed the law so you can no longer use the self-checkout at the grocery store if you have alcohol in your cart so the ID does get checked more often. In addition, if my new debit card happens to have not arrived in the mail, they will ID me for writing a check to pay for my groceries.

I doubt they 'changed the law'. Here, you just need to call the store attendant over to clear the self-checkout age thing. The store you go to probably doesn't want to be bothered doing that, so just makes you go to a manned register instead.

This is what our friends on the Left don't seem to "get" so they'll keep losing elections. Shhhh!

I'll take someone who talks crass but does the right thing over a corrupt charismatic liar who does wickedness anyday! Wish I didn't have to make that kind of choice, but that's the "equal and opposite reaction" to the lawless crooks they sent to D.C. in Obama and Clinton.

It's all about emotion with them. They are so easily deceived by slick talkers who do the opposite of what they say. What's worse is they think it's cool.

Regarding Voter ID, Catherine Englebrect of Texas was subject to GESTAPO TACTICS from the Obama Administration including COLLUSION with a corrupted IRS and racist superstar, Elijah Cummings.

Obama sent EVERY FEDERAL AGENCY to harrass True The Vote from the EPA to the DEA and the IRS because she was exposing the voter fraud he used to win the election. They tried every lie they could tell, every reputation they could impugn, every Democrat in Congress willing to lie for them, every crooked judge who would rule for them...you name it.

All about "emotion" ?????

Do you mean unlike the Trumpeters? Have you seen the people at trump rallies?

There hasn't been "emotion" like that since the Nuremberg rallies.

"wickedness"? now we're getting into subjective territory as different definitions abound there.

you may not, but there are plenty who would define "wickedness" as the separating of young children from their parents, kissing Putin's ass, inviting Russia to hack into our system, allowing the rape of our environment to allow Trump's donors to make even more money at the peril of the health and welfare of our children, Trump's mocking the disabled, dissing P.O.W.'s, and so many, many more things that might be defined as "wicked".

YMMV

You are hilariously blind when it comes to politics, bro. Like a turkey that votes for Thanksgiving.

Much respect in every other way.

Uh huh, Natl Socialists had a lot of emotion, Trump supporters have a lot of emotion, therefore Trump supporters must be Natl Socialists. Spurious correlation. You could make a case that Trump supporters are swayed by emotion just as easily as non-Trump supporters, but inferring a misrepresentation of their ideology isn't supporting that.

Seems that a Harvard graduate have been elected since then but not anyone that graduated Yale as well. Perhaps non-ivy league presidents are a better choice?

what did i misrepresent....

your words exactly.... "You could make a case that Trump supporters are swayed by emotion just as easily as non-Trump supporters"

that echos exactly the point i was making...that Trumps supporters ARE swayed by emotion just as easily as non-trump supporters.

must we flex our debating chops in some silly and pointless contest as we exbound over semantics here? (thanks, not interested).

You leave out half the sentence and interpret the meaning of what I said as completely the opposite and it is just semantics?

Let me rephrase it: You are not making the case with spurious correlations. Try again with something different than that and you might be more successful.
