About 80 miles to the east of you, Jeff, is where I'm from and a lot of my family started a Facebook chat thing back when I was there for my mom's brain surgery a month ago.

Anyway, they've been keeping me updated with what's going on in Beaumont. Yesterday they were saying it's just heavy rain and the streets are flooded. Earlier today they were talking about how the rain had let up but more was expected.

Now I hear that the hurricane has shifted and is going up the Texas coast and you are in danger of the levees breaking in Houston, and they are in danger of the Neches River overflowing, with water coming up from the Gulf.

We've been through 5 hurricanes there in the last decade, but this is the worst. Now they're saying they can't get out and another 10" might fall tonight. I'm trying not to scare them but I don't like the way that sounds.

My mom is in a rehab hospital there and hasn't recovered enough yet to walk, or even stand up.

... I would assume it is in danger of possibly losing power, pumps, etc. ala Fukushima. I hope not.

I did not watch the entire video because I do know about it.
The only nuclear power generating plant in this area is the South Texas Nuclear site. It was built in the early 80's. Last I heard only one of the reactors was operating. It was built with hurricane threats in mind and was not in the path of the hurricane. Hurricane Alisha in 1983 came closer. There is no threat to that complex that I am aware of. I am not in fear of this happening.

Ted, I hope your Mom is doing better I have kept her in my prayers. I am not trying to scare you but they have had to evacuate two major hospitals here in Houston. Ben Taub a level one trauma hospital and Saint Luke's. The eye of the storm has shifted and is back out in the Gulf and on the move. All of this weather is headed toward Beaumont. It will be making landfall again in Louisiana. Good news is it is starting to move a little quicker and is not expected to stall like it did here for 4 days.

oh man..... everyone in my family and all my friends in the southeast Texas area have lost their homes with everything in it. Even the shelters have a few feet of water in them. People are catching fish....in their living room!

I-10 is a rising river. There is only one way out of the Golden Triangle, and that's east to Lake Charles.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FwLbQd2ijQ ... FEMA ? For Years ? That does not sound good. The aftermath of this disaster will be used by the NWO if at all possible and this must be guarded against vigilantly. Evil will delight in kicking you when you are down or at a disadvantage.

This does not bode well either ...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqWAwvvuS3A
... for the Eastern Coast possibly ... Category 5

Also it seems it is not over for the Houston area yet either ...

..... long term water and drainage problems spell greater possibility for disease and the CDC which combined with FEMA means even more disasterous possibilities. The "controlled" draining of these Dams begins tonight.

Just remember the "government" is not your friend and is not to be trusted...

At this point the government is the only entity capable of handling the scope of this situation. I've got the coast guard on boats and helicopters out looking for my family members. The Neches River has Dam A and Dam B to control it.

Dam A has already overflowed and Dam B is breaking. When they let that water out, it will be a 10 foot surge that lots of people won't know is coming because they don't have electricity or phones.

The world's largest refineries are there. A full 1/3 of energy in America comes from this place, where the national reserves are stored. Indeed, the oil/energy age began with Spindletop in Beaumont.

All that has been shut down. Prepare for $3 or $4 dollar a gallon gasoline again. It first hit that mark when Katrina shut down this area in 2008, requiring the national reserves for the first time.

But locally a huge chemical plant has exploded sending poison into those waters, and the largest alligator conservatory in America has now overflowed also. Man, those gators are stacked 5 high in that place...but now unleashed all over southeast Texas.
