You are not going to thank me. I don't have a thousand bucks to fly half way around the world to a repressive country..Just to jam or try and get a BAND together. You just reached out to the wrong side of this forum...

Sorry mate! :)

To those of you that do repond my sincere thanks.

1) Check the 'last active' status of the profile. If its 30 days or more, forget it, this person isn't checking back. Some people set their email preferences so they don't receive notices, so won't know they've got one until they come to the site.
2) They're "wannabes" - people with little/no gigging experience and aren't ready to play with people who do have it.
3) They already found a band or gave up on it, and are just rude in not replying.

Generally, I've found the response ratio using any method (BM. CL, etc) is about 1 in 5, and the 'suitability' is less than 1 in 20. In other words, it takes a lot of work to find people (or a band). I was in 2 bands that contacted me through this place - I quit one of them after a few months (and the bass player quit right after me) and the other broke up after 8 months when the lead singer quit and we couldn't find a good replacement. Now I'm starting in a band I found on CL.

People generally do not respond to drive bys who do not have musc posted in their profiles. And as narcissistic judgmental maestros we generally do not respond to those whom we deem below our status . So by that you may understand that we aren't just a group of rude pukes, we're simply elitist pukes only interested in signing the autographs for the myriads of our fans and listening to their praises. But that's nothing new for anyone who knows the nature of many musicians. Mike is the most humble among us, therefore he is designated to respond to Bandmix bitches and gripes. Thank you Mike.

yes. and yes.

besides the other reasons mike outlined above...we live in a time where too many people (not just musicians) can't be bothered with taking two minutes out of their busy schedules to be trifled w the common courtesy of responding back to someone if they've decided (right or wrongly) that person can't help them or give them what they need.

if only i had a dime for every time i've heard the excuse ...."sorry i didn't get back to ya, been super busy". riiiight. sorry, being "busy" ISN'T an excuse for rudeness and being completely self centered.

oh....you were too busy? busy doing what? yeah, right ....you busy doing more IMPORTANT things.

guess what? that's what we all do...we prioritize things we need to do....and YOU don't think getting back to another musician who took the time to answer YOUR ad warrants a min of YOUR time. gottit.

As Planet guy has stated ...YES ...YES ... YES. Mike is very well suited, fair and patient regarding BM. He always takes the time to explain things very clearly regarding it's workings.

Slacker ... well he is brutally HONEST ... pure and simple.

Planet Guy is unique and has some excellent points ... and music.

And I am just the Forever DoomsDayer so feel free to mock at your own risk.

This being said I can understand your frustration and venting. It is a good place to get it all out by writing in the forum knowing it will be seen and commented upon. It is horrible to scream and have no one hear. I sincerely hope you feel better now and do not be put off by any of us on here ... we really are not a bad lot and we do all understand the frustration, spinning your wheel or just running to a seemingly dead end. Good Luck to you.

Sorry, Michael, but you're coming off as a 'grumpy old man'. You haven't added anything more on your BM profile, despite the suggestions.
Reminds me of a number of people that I auditioned in the last couple of years. Every solo player who 'didn't have any online music' that I gave a chance to was totally unsuitable to what I wanted to do, so I finally said "NO MORE!" The only reason I gave the guys I am now playing with a chance is that they had already played together as a band (lost one member).
The only thing people can tell about you from your profile is that you are 70 years old and can repair amps. Frankly, I would just tell you 'I'm all set', too.

And while I'm at it, why do many musicians post that they are proficient at playing an instrument and/or singing when in fact they are rather mediocre. Hey I'm not that good a guitarist and have stated same, but I do love my music and really enjoy playing guitar to the best of my abilities, if I'm not good enough for a particular band let the members of the band just tell me, I won't sulk or spit the dummy, at 70 years old I'm past all the BS.

Like everyone keeps telling you. Post some music. The guys telling you to post music are not raggin on you, they're trying to help you.
A lot of musicians here are proficient and even those not looking for bands have music posted on their BandMix profile.. Just because you say you are old doesn't give any indication of your skill. Perhaps musicians don't care to waste their time contacting someone without knowing if they are compatible. If I wasn't aware of someones skill level and taste in music I wouldn't waste my time answering them. I simply would not be interested. I wouldn't waste their time or mine. Maybe no one wants to work with an old fart. That matters to a lot of musicians. Superficiality is the name of the game in the music industry,

If you can't find anyone, try writing and recording your own music on a computer. It can be very rewarding. There are a lot of free recording programs out there. That's what I do, I write and record my own music as well as cover tunes. I used to play 7 nights a week for years working with as many as 5 different bands during the week since I was a "Have guitar will travel" musician. I liked the variety and I was always in demand. Now I record at home when I feel like it. Try it, you might like it.

I also was a repairman for years. I still construct all my own instruments and design my own amplifiers.

ah man. don't give up like that. you got anyone who can help you with the technical aspects of posting some of your music on your profile? I couldn't do stuff like that either until about two years ago.

It doesn't have to be original music that you post, but from what you wrote, it doesn't sound like playing music is that important to you any longer, so enjoy whatever you do.

Be careful not to go through North West Iowa or you may die of boredom and never reach Nebraska.
