Excellent Dayne. I wonder if he was planning on voting for The Hag.

Man shot was wearing flak jacket, not a bullet-proof vest

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Police say a 23-year-old Florida man who was shot by his cousin wasn't wearing a bulletproof vest, but instead had donned a "fragmentation protective vest," also known as a flak jacket.

Tampa police said in a news release that Joaquin Mendez put on the vest late Saturday and "wondered aloud whether it still worked." Police say his 24-year-old cousin Alexandro Garibaldi pulled out a gun and responded, "Let's see."

It's unclear how old the vest is or where it came from.

We've been through this before MIKE... However in this case I actually totally agree with you. Even a little teensy eensy 9mm can cause enough heart damage, the same as a major punch in the right place, even protected with ANY VEST!

This is what happens when you ignore one of the cardinal rules of firearm safety.

Never, EVER point a gun at another person unless you intend to shoot, and in self defense ONLY. Or wartime.

No grey area, that's the strict rule I was taught as a kid. I got my ass whipped if I even pointed my BB gun at someone else. Didn't have to shoot the thing, just point it...ass whipping...

There is no such thing as an unloaded gun. It's LOADED until I open the chamber and see for myself. I wonder how many people have been injured or killed by someone else's stupidity because they thought the gun was unloaded. No such thing as an unloaded gun.

I've seen stories about people being killed while cleaning guns. Again, stupidity. ALWAYS unload it first. Never assume it's unloaded. Or try to clean it while you know it is loaded. I still double check, even if I already know my gun is unloaded. Of course the only time that happens is at cleaning time. Any other time, I know it definitely IS loaded, that way I don't have to guess. I just have to be careful.

This is just plain stupidity. I hope the shooter gets prison time.

The first article I read last night said it was a bulletproof vest, I guess someone didn't do their homework.

I saw that l;st night but didn't read it. Meant to and forgot when I got sidetracked by other articles. A mile away is a long shot, and quite impressive. And taking out two who were there to video the event is just icing.

In a slightly saner world why not wrap the body armor around a fence post and shoot at it? Nah...not exciting enough.

Some years ago a guy was demonstrating body armor and actually took some hits from pistols at 20 feet. Then some dummy who did not understand the principles involved walked up and stabbed him to death with a steak knife. Right through the Kevlar.

Guys, it's a 'bullet proof vest' not a 'knife proof vest.'

Darn it. The stupidity in this world is amazing.
All of you have shown me to avoid even the hateful words that are so easy to use. Guns, knives, nukes... Just another way to show disrespect to all mankind, or womankind if you have to be politically correct.

This is just a whole 'nother level of STUPID.
