He has a ramp so he doesn't have to be picked up with an arm under his jowls.
He loves to go for car rides and adventures. He hates being picked up. He learned how to use the ramp in less then a minute.

I was thrown out of the Zoo in Baltimore once because I was chemically exalted to a point where I could communicate with animals. (Years ago mind you). Regarding the respective merits of the jailors and the jailed, I seemed to have reached a conclusion unpopular with Zoo officials. The guards got pissed when they overheard me whisper to the hippos, "Just chill, I'll get you out of here guys..."

Of all the individual critters you could mention Talbot... Hippos are right up there. Almost as scary as men.

Interesting story... I think I'll pass on the pet hippo idea.
