it has gotten so progressive in society that they want the Washington Redskins, a NFL football team, to change their name to a name where nobody gets their feelings hurt? .. this name is something that does not bother most people? and the team is one of the oldest pro teams around? why suddenly? is everything so offensive to people, with the exception of music shows on TV in Las Vegas with girl dance troupes dancing almost naked? it's like it's pick and choose according to the whim of the media moguls? and we all know what group they are composed of.. strike three? :)

I don't care what you call them, I never watch football anyway.

I don't think it's offensive, and according to a report I saw a while back, most native Americans don't either. Some do, but there's a few malcontents in every crowd...

It's all about being politically correct. And that crowd couldn't care less about who or what is offensive, as long as they can raise hell about it and make the rest of us as miserable as they are..

the people that preach the" politically correct" doctrine are many times shouting make it right for the down-trodden and oppressed by offering burger flippers $15.00 an hour to make equity in labor rights but are the same ones shouting out the other side of their mouth, stop the musicians and bands that play for free on the other extreme of labor contract negotiations.. they love wearing their robes in high places, and protesting on the street the injustice of labor pay rates, but at the same time squawk about musicians scabs ruining the gig money.. it seems two-faced to me.. trying to look good as a goody two shoes, but greedy just the same :D

What's actually behind this, in my opinion, is a Marxist hatred of those who will use force to resist tyranny.

Most if not all sports teams and military units that name themselves after Indian tribes are honoring the Indians for their brave fighting abilities. Apaches? Bad assest people to walk the earth.

The plains tribes, the Iroquois, the Nez Perce...etc. Their way of warfare had no way to prevail against Europeans who fight scientifically. Yet they were much like the Egyptian Mamelukes of whom Napoleon said, "One of them can always defeat one or even two of ours. But ten of them can never defeat ten of ours and a hundred will be swept from the field."

These were warriors. Individual warriors who fought when they felt like it and sought out individual combat. Such warriors should be honored, but not many remember these things. Which is strange in a country that has been at war so long and purports to honor the military.
