what the heck will we do, if a nuke pulse bomb knocks out the power grid? no electricity means no water pressure and no way for me to pump water out of the well..water is the most important resource to have in emergencies.. I figure I can get a well bucket and rope and manually dip water out of the well, but wonder if it is worse, if I have to become one of the zombies walking the land in search of foodstuffs, clothing, I won't be able to use well water.. so I spent $165.00 for a Daulton Gravity-Fed water purifier that I could actually dump lagoon water into and it would come out the bottom completely safe and potable..thanks Vamp for finally convincing me it is time to start prepping.. :D

Yod

Unless you live in Roswell GA where there is water all over the place and lots of us have filters.

Most people are happy to share anyway and are armed so it wouldn't be wise to try and steal.

Dayne ... thank you for the mention.

Water ...Fukushima is turning the water of the world into liquid Death not Life. An example regarding nuclear reactors ... let us assume that a reactor is perfectly safe, in good order and not having any leaks that are directly contaminating the huge amounts of water used each day for cooling. Even if this were true and it most definitely is not ... all the water that passes through the reactor is boiled and therefore loses it's healthy life and sustaining properties ... it is made sterile. Now just imagine the huge volumes of boiled water being produced and mixing with healthy life-giving and sustaining waters worldwide. Have we or have we not reached the point where the planet can not heal itself or it's waters any longer. I do not know and neither does anyone else.
All this is not even including the facade of containment tanks growing hourly in Fukushima nor the tons of heavily contaminated water being pumped directly into the Pacific after it has been pumped to cool the holes where reactor cores have melted down. The more all this is examined the more telling it is that even if nothing else "bad" happens ... this world is toast, we all are eventually toast.
Of course none of this means that we should throw the door open to Death, so getting your water source as pure as you can is a good idea and start.

Mike, nice to know others use water filters and such, my well water has not been tested lately, don't know if pesticide residues and gallardia are at safe levels among other nasties, hope my well casing has endured, my well was put in 1992, it is over 23 years old now, one thing this southwest Missour water is full of calcium or calcite? minerals, real chalky soil great for growing fescue, but causes water problems, know I drink a lot of mineral in the water, actually been drinking bottled water the last couple years or so, but getting tired of hauling those 28 bottle packs home and hate the trash from empty bottles, and the money spent on it, and figured the Doulton can pay for itself within a year, but also if something does happen like a surprise attack from somebody either a cyber attack that shuts down the power grid or an actual missle attack I will be at least a little prepared more so than today..

Vamp, you are very good at keeping all of us abreast of "problems" in the world, the Fukishama fiasco if you ask me seems to be really hushed up, and I will bet a lot of radiation has escaped, even though the majority of the radiation poisons has a short half life..

I saw a video on Facebook by a group of volunteers in Africa. Not sure if they were religious missionaries or what. They made a pump for a well out of a bicycle, a pipe, nylon rope and rubber flaps that they cut out of some piece of rubber, like a mud flap (might have been something closer to food grade materials). That was amazing. That pump was freaken powerful!

cool schmed! while shopping around online I saw stuff about missionaries using a Big Berkey for shallow water well purification, got to go deep into the aquifer to have relatively safe drinking water (my well is 270 feet deep) in Kansas they have problems with salt water, don't believe Kansas sits over an aquifer like Missouri does, also need a 100% functional well casing that has not cracked and sprung a leak allowing groundwater contamination into the well. this Doulton water purifier I bought takes/filters out all of it, bacteria, viruses, parasites, cysts, heavy metals, all except flourine but if you get additional expensive filters it will even filter flourine / fluoride..the BRITA water pitcher filter takes out absolutely no bacteria etc.

I recommend "Life Straw" for your car or bail out back or whatever. Pretty darn useful. Plus they send one to African villages for every one you buy and those folks have huge water problems.

just hours after I ordered the water filter, Willard, Mo. sewage treatment plant run out of it's "banks" and draining off down the creek contaminating many , especially cattle's source of drinking water, so Glen, if your steak tastes funny.. :D
read about it, I tell yo no lies, Nobody Tells The Truth!
