Obama’s DOJ Is Giving Your Tax Dollars To Muslims In America… The Reason Is Infuriating

Though they are loath to admit it, the community of naturalized citizens and immigrants from Somalia in Minnesota are at a greater than average risk of being radicalized and recruited into terrorist organizations compared to their Arab Muslim counterparts.

Thus, U.S. Attorney for Minnesota Andrew Luger established a special task force, originally named Counter Violent Extremism, now re-branded as Building Community Resilience.

The program has the stated goal of providing federal, state and local grants and other resources to the Minneapolis-based Somali community to prevent teens and young adults from being radicalized and joining the Islamic State group in Syria or its Somali affiliate, al-Shabaab.

“We have a terror recruiting problem in Minnesota,” Luger said in April, noting that at least 50 Somalis were known to have left the United States to join the two major terror organizations in the past several years, with many more suspected of planning to do so in the near future.

According to The Guardian, many local Somalis and Muslim organizations are inherently distrustful of the U.S. attorney’s office, fearing the program unfairly singled out Somalis as a terrorism risk and could be used by law enforcement to keep tabs on them.

“The idea that this Muslim community needs help, itself for this issue is problematic,” said Jaylani Hussein, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations in Minnesota.

“Because now you’re saying that countering violent extremism is only from one community. The threat comes from one community, the threat is only identified within one community, that community needs a program,” he explained. “The whole premise is wrong. This program, no matter how good it is, is flawed from its principle.”

We actually couldn’t agree more, though for different reasons. We agree that the premise of the program is flawed, as using taxpayer dollars to pay young Somalis to not become jihadists is a losing proposition that will not prevent the recruitment of terrorists and will only waste money.

No doubt the idea for this program originated from President Barack Obama’s Department of Justice (former Attorney General Eric Holder started a similar pilot program), who are looking for any and every way to combat radical Islamic terrorism without actually naming “radical Islamic terrorism” or physically combating it.

The entire program should be scrapped or turned over to local community organizations that can use their own resources, and not taxpayer money, to keep their own community members from becoming radicalized Muslims if they choose to do so.
