I only saw part of his announcement, but what I saw was pretty interesting. Not sure yet but I've been listening to what he has to say for a while now and a lot of it sounds good. Have been wondering about the democrat donations, then again Howard Hughes did the same thing. But for different reasons, Hughes gave $100,000 each to Nixon and Humphrey, under the table, thinking either way the election went he'd have a president in his pocket. Nixon was scared shitless he'd get caught. Hughes was furious when Nixon started naming cabinet members without consulting him first...Hughes was one strange creature, but literally thought he could buy any politician he wanted. He controlled the Nevada governor outright.
OK I digress...Trump said almost the exact same thing I've said for at least 10 years about controlling illegal immigration, but without the wall. I think I posted it on here a while back but not sure.
Here's how:
1. Cut off all foreign aid to Mexico.
2. Stop all tourist traffic from the US into Mexico, in the interest of the safety of Americans. Anywhere within 50 miles inside Mexico is dangerous for Americans.
3. Step up our own border security. And start deporting illegals in droves. We already have the laws in place to do it. And no, it's not too expensive. It's a lot more expensive to let them stay here and collect every government handout you can think of, take jobs from Americans, commit all manner of crimes...not to mention free health care, housing, education, legal aid...the average illegal that walks up to border patrol is signed up for welfare and/or food stamps within a couple of days. It would take you weeks.
4. Make sure they pay taxes on imports from us. You want it, you pay taxes first.
Soon as the money stops the Mexican government will sit up and take notice in a hurry. Tell them to stop illegal immigration on their side and shut down the drug cartels and we'll talk money.
I give it 6 months and you won't see a mouse get past the border without papers. No wall needed. That's been my position for years, nobody wants to listen. It will work. Shut off the money and they'll start cooperating.
Some of his other points are very good too. Other countries, especially China, are taking us to the cleaners on trade. As Trump said, they take our manufacturing, jobs, then sell their products back to us at a profit, and manipulate their currency to keep us at a disadvantage. Then loan us our own money back...We're in debt to China to the tune of $1.3 trillion.
That's the thing he sees that politicians won't, use economics as a weapon. His are not new or original ideas either, some have already been floated around, our politicians are too weak to use them or too scared it will hurt them politically.
Same for Isis. Find the best Generals and tell them to do their jobs, then cut off the money Isis survives on. Nobody so far has even hinted at hurting them financially that I know of. Not seriously anyway. Ditto for Iran. Sanctions should never have been lifted before the talks over Iran's nuclear program. Sanctions are the only thing that got them to the table. Now that they're making money they can thumb their noses at Obama. I don't remember if Trump said so, but I'm betting that's how he would do it. That's the way he thinks. And he's right.
I just wish he would run as a no party candidate instead of joining either one of the useless ones we have today.
That doesn't mean I'll support him or vote for him, way too early to decide. But a lot of what he says makes sense. One of the main things he realizes is we need a real leader. On that one I agree 1000%. Yes, Trump is loud and brassy, very outspoken, but one of the best hings about him is he has no need whatsoever for lobbyists and special interest groups, corporations already listen to HIM...not the other way around. I can live with the ego, it's already proven he does what he says. The only other person in the race so far that can say that is Cruz, who I don't think really has a great chance. Bush, who I can't stand, is probably going to be the main competition. The last thing we need is another Bush or Clinton, and unless Trump can gain some headway, that's likely to be our choices. I wish Bush had listened to his mother...
At any rate, things just got really interesting...
