Phoenix Bikers Sponsor ‘Draw Muhammad’ Contest on Friday

On May 29, bikers in Pheonix, Arizona, are holding a “Draw Muhammad” contest outside the mosque at the Islamic Community Center of Phoenix, which is where the two gunmen who opened fire in Garland, Texas, allegedly attended.

Nadir Soofi and Elton Simpson drove from Phoenix to Garland and opened fire outside of the Curtis Culwell Center on May 3, while a Muhammad cartoon contest was being held. The two men were quickly killed by police working security at the event.

In the weeks since that event, numerous media pundits have criticized Pamela Geller for organizing the Muhammad cartoon contest to begin with. At what she described as her freedom of speech and expression, pundits recoiled and said she was asking for it by allegedly antagonizing Muslims.

For example, following the attack, The New York Times said Geller’s contest “was not really about free speech. It was an exercise in bigotry and hatred posing as a blow for freedom.” The paper tried to explain that those who see it otherwise are confusing “hate speech” with free speech.

Enter former Marine Jon Ritzheimer, who is organizing Friday’s “Draw Muhammad” contest in Phoenix.

According to Vocativ, Ritzheimer says his contest is an exercise in free speech and is being held, in part, to respond to the “liberals” who criticized those gathered in Texas with Geller instead of criticizing the two Islamic men who walked up to a cartoon contest and opened fire.

He put it this way:

This is not about race or any other side agenda that the Liberals are making it out to be. This is purely 100% a Freedom of Speech Rally. Stand Tall and show that we can PEACEFULLY protest our rights that are under attack. That is the sole cause for this Rally and Islam wants to silence us.

Ritzheimer is also asking all attendees to exercise their Second Amendment rights and bring firearms in case the expression of a First Amendment right “comes under the much anticipated attack.”

The group is meeting at Denny’s by the Islamic Community Center at 5 pm and plans to walk to the mosque itself at 6 and hold the contest right outside. The current president of the center is Usama Shami. He responded to Ritzheimer’s announcement by saying, “Everyone has a right to be a bigot. Everyone has a right to be racist.”

Talk about hate speech? You're no better than either side.

“Everyone has a right to be a bigot. Everyone has a right to be racist.”

Funny that the Muslim guy makes the most sense.

And this is exactly the point that Geller is making. Freedom of speech is for everyone to be as offensive as they want to be.....but racists and bigots do NOT have the right to shoot or behead people who disagree with them.

Ritzheimer already found his trouble. Some Muslim outed his home address and now he's whining like a girl.

Tough guy? Maybe not.

Personally I'm sick of Muslims and their being offended all the time. It offends me. But this stuff is setting people up to get killed, first by each other, and then by govt stormtroopers.

Freedom of speech? It is. Is this worth it? Apparently not to the guy who organized it.

Talbot,

I know you're a true patriot. I give that benefit of any doubt to all in the discussion...I really do.

But I don't think you guys realize that we are already at war.

Avoiding that reality only makes it harder to survive it, so the sooner that reality is addressed, the less it will cost us. We have been paying this price over and over since the Barbary Coast Wars. Unfortunately it's a lesson that doesn't get passed down through the generations; enjoying the service of past generations who learned the hard way.

The best point you've made so far is a very important one. That is the government will use this for an excuse to put troops in the streets and deny Americans any freedom at all. That scenario isn't so far fetched...and should be considered.

But the best way to avoid that outcome is for the government to be consistent in protecting ALL citizens right now by standing up to threats of violent behavior from a foreign enemy that has become a domestic enemy under the current President.

"If you go looking for trouble, usually you will find it. Nuff said.'

cowardly insight. Grow some and support those who have the courage to stand against the murdering hordes.

Understand this. The goal of Islam is to eradicate all that do not bow to Mohamed from this earth. So just exactly who is going looking for trouble? Are their ranks not advancing? Are you blind to the murders and beheading going on with peoples that never went looking for trouble? People that just wanted to live their lives in peace. This is wisdom. You can't go looking for trouble with those who have already vowed to destroy you. They are already headed your way and they have designated you as the target, unless you bow down to their demands. But then I guess that you are already doing that, at least in spirit.

"nuff said"

I'm glad you fear stupidity because it sure is time to for you to go back to school. That's all you spew.

I'll never teach you about the hate doctrine you really preach. But I'll tell you this I am tired of having you preach principles that make it OK for another man to use the LAW to STEAL from another man.

The bottom line is you are very dangerous to the principle of human achievement... DETROIT is a perfect example. IMO...............

Ted

You are correct - I'm not at war with the Muslims. Unless the Afghans come after me I just don't respect them enough to even worry about it.

How have they harmed me? We've killed some of the guys who did the towers - the rest of that pack of scoundrels are Saudi Arabia - my least favorite hell hole.

It is our own govt that invaded all those other countries, created ISIS and the rest of those terror groups and who has trampled freedom in the dirt right here at home- I fear them.

Trust me - if some Islamist group comes after me I will thank them for the opportunity to enjoy a good fight. Other than ISIS, I just ain't mad at them. Since we created ISIS we should as southerners say, "shoot our own dog."

If we had patriots in DC there would be no Islamist threat in this country. It is the uni-party who opened the floodgates. So I ask myself, which is the most dangerous? It always comes up DC.

We agree on that. It's always government that brings a holocaust.

I honestly didn't realize they were going to go to a mosque to protest until a few minutes ago when I checked the news. Thought they were doing another contest in Phoenix in protest.

That seems a bit too provocative for civil debate...and I wouldn't go that far...but it happens all the time from the Left.

Islamic threats on American citizens is an unavoidable issue already, and these people have the right to say so as long as they are non-violent.

Sooner is better than later, imo. I see no reason they shouldn't understand that the American people aren't going to take their threats lightly, no matter how stupid our government is.

I don't fear Muslims (although I wish ISIS was eliminated), I don't fear Russians and I don't fear Chinese. What I do fear is stupidity, and this country has an abundance of stupid people.

No argument there.

Gay people aren't gay to offend you - they are born that way and want their rights like everyone else. Don't like it, don't look.

Does it surprise you if I agree? We are all born with sin in our DNA. No one has power over that apart from supernatural help.

But you've got the rest of it backwards. Christians have not attacked gays to force them to accept us. They don't go looking to bully someone over the words in icing written on pastries.

Gay activists go SO much further than anything Pamela Geller has ever done.

Proving once again the hypocrisy of the Left is so thinly veiled, if at all. They would never ask a Muslim baker to go against their conscience, because they're afraid of the consequence.

Environmentalists aren't trying to offend you - they're concerned that the stupid people are wrecking the planet and that we may do irreparable harm to its systems (which includes us by the way).

The blindness over this subject is laughable, if the result weren't slavery. The proponents of "Greenism" have been caught in so many lies, and so much fraud that I can't really take them seriously anymore until they start answering questions.

By the way, ridicule is not an answer. Using the derogatory word "Denier" is not evidence. Arrogant contempt is not proof.

Show me that global warming evidence again, please? Al Gore said the ice caps would be gone by 2014. When those communists are able to answer a few very simple questions, more people will take them seriously.

Until then, I see no good reason to hand over American sovereignty or throw money in their toilet.

Liberals aren't trying to offend you - we just want to live our lives without the right telling us what is morally right and acceptable. We want a country where all people are accepted as equal and treated as such.

Which is why free speech is so important.

We want the stupid people to at least do no harm if they insist on being stupid.

All people are stupid. Where do you start and where does it end? Another reason why free speech for everyone is important.

In short, mind your own business and you'll be happier. Or get a job or volunteer. Or go slug it out with the ISIS wannabes and the ignorant rednecks.

It's different with Islam and here's why: It is more of a political system than a religion. It has it's own banking system, it's own legal code, and it's own armies. If we don't stop it somewhere, Detroit will be one of the first to go.

I like the Motor City too much to let that happen without a fight.
