No, I don't really buy any of it Vamp, sorry.
Fukushima is a very serious situation but still no deaths attributed to it and very few cases of rad sickness among first responders who were exposed beyond safety limits. The chance of anyone being affected by it beyond a 5 mile radius of the plant is approaching zero.

The middle East has been a hotbed of madness for 1000s of years. Political unrest is the norm there and our personal risk is also approaching zero unless we are deployed as a member of the military.
I grew up in the 50s and 60s when Mao was directing communism in the far east and murdering 50 million Chinese, open air nuclear testing was happening in Nevada and the Marshall islands, and Khrushchev was sending ICBMs to Cuba. We used to do monthly air raid drills and huddle in the basement of my school waiting for the mirvs to go off. These days seem pretty calm in comparison.
