yeah....SURE she did.

and i started (and continue to) play bass in a truckstop house band to become rich and famous!

Really Mark? I didn't know that but I did know that Sanger was a genocidal racist. Hitler loved her, as an advocate for genetical "purification" and euthanasia.

So far, it looks like both of you failed to achieve your dream, but she gets closer to her goals every day.

sorry, but as much as you'd like to believe that everyone has an equal chance and we all start at the same starting line...sadly that AIN'T the case. not everyone has the same opportunities. or good parents. if they're lucky enough to have parents at all.

so, because someone didn't have parents who showed them right from wrong....SCREW 'EM. after all YOUR parents taught YOU right from wrong! it's not YOUR responsibility to try to educate them or help them improve their lot in life.

that's some compassionless $hit right there, bro...and one of the big differences between the left and right.

yep, you got your's...screw everyone else. afterall....it's THEIR fault.

and you know what...i'll be the first to say it....sometimes, even OFTEN....yes, it IS their fault. but that across the board dismissive writing them off...from too many on the right, that's a big difference in our ideologies.

Mark, you congratulated us on being civil in this debate and right now you don't sound very civil!
I say B.S. on your entire post. EVERYONE in this country does have the same opportunity! Why do you think we have illegal aliens flocking to get here? There ain't NO victim dude! Only your moronic liberal ideology says there's a victim. You have every handout available to the poor and underprivileged and it is never enough. I have news for you bro. us folks that ACTUALLY work and pay for this crap are getting tired of the insanity you puke out of your PIEHOLE! (Taking a breath), I didn't get my anything. I came from a poor fatherless home and had EXACTLY the same opportunities as any one in any ghetto has. Well no they actually had it better! You don't know squat about how I had it and let me tell you it was BAD! This is a cruel world in fact a cruel universe you have to be tuff to survive. These pansy ass excuses you cracker ass liberals make for all these so called "victims" at cost to the working man of whom have built this country is your trip! Your little talking down to, lecture is a crock of sh*t! Just a bunch of hot air heck a fart has more integrity than your post!

Jeff, please don't assume that. I'm certain that Mark thinks he is helping his fellow man, and that is a lofty goal. Our problem with liberalism is that there is no accountability to reverse course now that their agenda has only made the situation MUCH worse since the Great Society was foisted upon us.

Yet I've found that my liberal friends really do want almost the same things I want, we simply disagree over how to achieve it. They trust government primarily, whereas we trust individuals....people.

They are correct in assuming that people will let greed and personal ambition rule the day....but they seem to underestimate how much damage is done when someone in government does the same thing. The power of government is way more powerful (and corrupt) than any corporation.

In my study of the Holocaust, this is a reoccurring theme. Ever wonder how they determine what is "Left" and what is "Right" when Hitler's National Socialist Party is being tagged as "right"?

It seems that wherever Jewish people are, it is the "left" and, in the diaspora (nations where they are dispersed) they are usually communal and voting against the nationalist view of whatever nation they are in. This pits them against the larger society and anti-semitism begins. High ethical standards are ingrained into Jewish people from birth, even if there are ways to compartmentalize what is right (legal equals "good") within social morality. They lean towards a collective, where you and I would tend towards individuality.

In my opinion, this ignores the entire world history which says that the various derivatives of collective government (marxism) have only caused misery, because sooner or later an individual is going to grasp control over the masses. Then the darkness of the human heart becomes our collective problem.

But the real problem we have is that dictators understand this too well. We have one right now who has divided Americans in every place where there is a schism.

On top of that the DNC has convinced most of their people that they are victims of conservatives, and now the backlash is doing the same thing vice versa. We're toast if we continue to allow ourselves to view people we disagree with as representing a monolithic view. We end up fighting shadows, and our real enemies win easily.

And yet it is fact that policies of the left have eviscerated the middle class, making your supposition truer.

We can only attempt to make opportunity available and equal for everyone by having a standard of laws that are blind to race and economic status. Giving the hard-earned money of working taxpayers to someone who has decided they would rather party through life, is more unfair than not offering help to those who do want to work.

Somewhere there is a happy medium, and I believe it is achieved by setting higher standards and allowing individuals to suffer the consequences of repeated poor choices, as opposed to giving handouts which only make people slaves to the State

Thanks for being civil Jimmy! I couldn't disagree more. There are self made millionaires all over the country. The fact is being wealthy and being happy are two completely different things! I have met and known MANY wealthy people and they are NOT any happier than I am! The fact is when you allow people to have a pity party and woe is me, whitey is keeping me down attitude then support that type of mentality you are making the problem worse. That's exactly what the left does. Another fact of life is, you can't help people who don't want to help themselves. Heck I am not going to pretend I know what the answer is. I do know what the answer isn't.

“What has happened traditionally, particularly since the 60’s, is you’ve got certain people saying, ‘There, there you poor little thing, you can’t take care of yourself, we are going to take care of you,’” he told reporters before sitting down for the meal, which was closed to the press. “And we got people who believe that they can't survive on their own, which is absolutely ridiculous.”

The GOP hopeful, who was one of the ten presidential wannabes in last week’s national debate on Fox News, said the government should focus more on providing vocational and educational training that invests in people than in traditional social programs.

“I think it’s important for people to understand that there are two ways to handle this,” he said. “One way is what's been going on since the 60’s where supposedly the war on poverty, we've spend 19 trillion plus and we got more poverty, we’ve got more people on welfare.”

Carson went on to say, “We need to look at the things that do work. What has worked is when people invest in other people with mentoring programs with various types of job programs and training programs.”

Harlem residents were intrigued by the Republican candidate’s visit.
