You can say the same for a bow and arrow.

So what happened when some oppressors showed up with Colt .45's and Winchester '73's ?

Now days the oppressors won't have to show up ... remotely sending weaponized bots and drones in to wipe up militants will be a party game for elites, laughing at the images of you shooting like crazy into the air while being swarmed to death by a lethal cloud of flying nano-bots. ... just sayin'

Actually Vinny, when the oppressors showed up with winchesters the decent poeple (indians) bought them from corrupt govt skunks, of which there are plenty here now.

Custer, contrary to popular myth, was actually outgunned at the Little Bighorn. His guys had single shot springfields and Crazy Horse's bad boys had winchesters and various other repeaters. Adios amigos.

And after the battle they had Springfields too... 8)

A man who isn't afraid to die has a pretty darn big advantage in a fuss.

...Mike Talbot I thank you for your Posts. Tou are indeed correct in what you have related. I knew that the single shot rifles were no match for mounted Comanche Warriors who could have as many as seven arrows in the air at the same time.

My Father gave me my first rifle when I was 9 yrs. old. It was a .22 Long Rifle. They are very accurate and in some ways a perfect sniper weapon. I would practice shooting dragonflies at a dam in the hills.

It is always interesting how "those" who have no idea of what they speak always seem to place such "faith" in technology. I will take imagination and clever tactics over technology any day or night. Many seem ti view such things as though they were video games, much like they view their own lives as self-important soap operas and quasi-reality shows. It is also of interest how some seem to confuse the words "militants" and "Patriots". Such nonthinkers even refer to the political/corporate scum as "elites". This all speaks volumes does i t not ?

All it takes on the other hand is one large and powerful CME and such "technology is virtually nonexistent. This is a huge danger today in light of the moronic "design" and "maintenence of all the world's
nuclear power plants. Despite Fukushima nothing is being done to address this issue by the "governments around the world.

The US has lost every war it has been in since Korea. How is it that Afghanistan is being lost despite such wonderous technology ???

The pinheads and nerds running the drones will never have the will of someone who's country is being destroyed, tortured and looted.

Obviously if the government was not concerned about citizens guns they would not be trying to destroy them , the right to carry them and to sell out to the UN. Ta

Well - I'm dumb as a block of stone. Besides studying various fields just out of curiousity, and teaching myself six programming languages, and reinventing myself routinely, I really am pretty stupid.

My personality sucks too, fullfilling your complete fantasy of a dumb right winger. Bitter clinger too, guns and bibles - how lame is that eh? 8)

Mike you are one of the exceptions, you seem capable and intelligent, and I would imagine you're a fine musician. But many right wingers I meet come across as ignorant, undereducated buffoons. Sorry if I generalized over-zealously.

You got me thinking about how many languages I've studied. The starred ones I've actually used at work:

1) FORTRAN
2) COBOL
3) BASIC
4) RPG II
5) IBM Assembler
6) LISP
7) Pascal (Turbo for PCs, and a mainframe flavor)
8) C
9) C++
10) Smalltalk
11) ObjectPal (Paradox) *
12) ObjectPascal (Delphi) *
13) Visual Basic 6 *
14) VB.NET *
15) C# (.NET) *
16) ASP.NET *
17) Ruby on Rails *

Then of course there's the various flavors of HTML and XML and the rest of the alphabet soup that is programming today.

I'm fortunate that I get to do the two things I love the best - programming and music. Some people might say I'm lucky or blessed, but really I just worked my ass off.

I never did the mainframe thing other than writing 'glue' routines between systems. You sure have me beat for languages but the ones I have are / were good ones:

C
Clipper (including the OOP version)
Assembler
C++
VB
Delphi (object pascal) (my very favorite)
Java (just a little)

My love for process and generally bossy nature punched me into project management and similiar roles - my current boss calls me "first sergeant" and I find myself working in hardware infrastructure. i run interference for the smart boys. A hell of a thing for a software guy! :D

As to conservatives being assholes. True enough. But liberals too - and even some libertarians (like me). I think the message here is not political but cultural - the country is full of assholes! 8)

I am ready to quit IT. I get tired of working with arrogant folks who cant really program worth a sh*t, and they don't have a f**k clue about Design, Reqs and specs... Gawd I just wanna beat the sh*t out of so many people in IT...
I just turned down an offer to project manage on gig with Symantec They are quite possibly the worst mother f**k to ever work for .. I value normal blood pressure too much to walk into that sh*t. Besides as lesser of two evils, I prefer development over number crunching.
