let me break it down for you:

what's the connotation behind "jew you down"?

...that jews are cheap and always looking for a bargain. do you really not see how that's offensive?

...that jews have a long history of wandering. why would anyone take offense at that? there's no slur there.

it's really not all that complicated.

now, you can keep looking for other parallels to try to make your point, but if you still fail to see how the expression "jew you down" IS a slur (whether it's intended as one or not)....you'll never get it.

I digress, The Wandering Jew as a symbolic gesture and not speaking about the plant, in my opinion (and it's only my opinion) is a is not seen in a positive light.. really the point I was trying to make, was if we are going to pick and choose the products, colloquialisms, sayings, that were created in the eons of history, and for the most part are now just figures of speech, rather than insults, we need to eradicate everything that could be deemed offensive rather than letting some ride.. when I think jew, I think banker, media mogul, etc. not a tightwad..

so your logic is that since we can't eradicate ALL ethnic and religious slurs...then we might just as well continue using them? that makes zero sense.

that's more stereotyping and i can only guess from that statement that you grew up in an area that had few jews. my family boasts no media moguls or bankers...just a lot of blue collared middle class working stiffs.
