My opinion is that everyone is a racist. Anyone who denies that is a lying racist.

The problem is that no one wants to admit that they have any latent fear, however large or small, of people who are different than themselves. If we could all admit it, we would be able to talk frankly about relations, but as long as one group presumes moral authority over another (by calling them "racist") we will only have more war.

It is also my opinion that Dane needs to get out more, go see the world. Slacker, I love ya man, but Iowa is not living in reality. Muslims in Iran are coming to faith by the MILLIONS. The mullahs are scared to death and can't figure out how to stop "Isa" (Jesus) from appearing to muslims in dreams.

Most muslims are very decent people. They are more conservative than American conservatives. Once they befriend you, they are your friend for life. Yes, their religion is different than ours, but at least they believe there is a god. That gives us more in common with them than say, yer average liberal.

Every person deserves respect because they are made in the image of God. We harm ourselves by lumping them all together with Achmed, the Terrorist. We drive them right into the arms of the Muslim Brotherhood when we stereotype them....so please....overcome your fear with patience. Don't speak against a religion (speaking about violent religious ideology is different) and leave room for a dialogue, because I promise you will see the largest revival of all time in the Islamic nations soon.

I loved Nassir a Palestinain friend who run the convenience store in Cameron Village (Raleigh, N. I know many who do. They are mostly Christian arabs who were forced out of Bethlehem (by muslims) and now live in Nazareth. They had to go to the Israeli Supreme Court to sue for the right to be in the IDF (Israeli Defense Force) but they have seen first hand what muslims would do to them, and MUCH prefer being citizens in Israel.

“I guess we should be grateful that at least the broadcast version of the KSTP story used the ‘S’ word,” said Corcoran, author of the blog Refugee Resettlement Watch.

“This should be on the national news,” Corcoran wrote. “Just envision this happening in your neighborhood. How are Americans ever going to be prepared and proactive if we don’t even know what is happening in the next city, let alone the next state?”

Corcoran says it’s important to remember the Somalis didn’t just “make their way” to Minnesota. They have been permanently resettled there for three decades by the U.S. State Department and three major contractors – Catholic Charities, Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service and World Relief. I kind of fell into that position by default, unwillingly. I think anyone who has travelled as much as I, knows what we each know instinctively already...and that is that people everywhere are the same.

We're all afraid of the unknown, and hate the work of change.

Islamic nations are not equal.

Indonesian muslims are docile and sweet people. Somalians & Sudanese muslims are coming from a land of anarchy ruled by warlords, so they require a LOT more scrutiny and most of them should probably be kept out.

I'm all for making the requirements so tough that most wouldn't pass....but we can't deny them ALL based on what SOME of them do.
