It was his neighbor but the FBI isn't sure if it was an accomplice yet

First let's see what obama says.
Second every gun is an "ASSAULT WEAPON"
Third every gun is a defensive weapon.
I doubt this attack in CA would have happened if police were required in presence with guns used as a defense weapon.
So... Let's see what obama says...
The agenda is to disarm the general populace and even remove the quasi military weapons of the police.
Perfect formula to establish a coup and removal of the LAW of THE LAND.
I'm not paranoid... I have a gun... I just will not allow "THE FUNDAMENTAL CHANGE OF AMERICA".
Wake up sheep.

Mark

There are plenty of reasons to have lots of guns. Not that I do but I know folks who do and they are to a man (and woman) harmless unless attacked.

I have a friend that collects .45s - great for me since I've gotten to shoot a lot of great guns I wouldn't have otherwise. Hunters often have a wide selection. When friends visit me from overseas or Canada I often take them to the range and we rent various machine guns - fun to shoot - no danger to the public. Hell - even if I took one of their Tommy guns home it would still be no danger to the public. I couldn't afford to shoot 'em!

Typical defense profile is considered pistol, shotgun, battle rifle and maybe a .22. Cops usually own that, preppers and veterans. Working Lawmen usually carry two pistols. (I did as well when I was chasing alarms in Compton CA) I Wish I could afford that setup now but when the choice is Firebird or AR - well...

Why, you might ask, do many folks regard 4 guns as the bottom line? Situational. Pistols and rifles shoot through walls and who wants to kill their neighbors? Hence shotguns. Pistols are nearly useless but beat the hell out of nothing when you step in sh*t and fit nicely in your glovebox (legal in Ga, FL etc). 22s for small game, plinking and so on.

While I can't imagine having to clean a whole safe full of guns I certainly don't object if somebody else is up to the job. Indeed I plan on shooting a friend's Colt Navy model this spring (Civ War piece). Lots of folks are into black powder guns for re-enactments, hunting and target shooting.

The thing to remember is what Samuel L. Jackson said, "I grew up in the south and everybody had lots of guns. Nobody shot anybody else. What has happened?"

To answer that, we allowed the govt to destroy our demographics, our educational system and so on. Perhaps TV had something to do with it? They say an average kid sees 20k shootings by age 18.

Games? Don't know - lots of folks think so but there are arguments for both sides.

The big one: Johnson's so called Great Society destroyed a lot of black families - and no matter how un-PC this statement is, facts are facts: blacks are 13% of the population. A mere 3% of that 13% commit a whopping 50% of the violent crime or as the govt hacks say, 'gun crime.' (FBI stats) Blacks were the poster children for family values when I was coming up - now far too many have govt for a father instead of a man.

Just so whites wouldn't feel left out they started doping them up in school on these SSRI drugs - think mass shootings. Almost all the big ones are white guys. The smaller ones 4-6 victims are usually blacks and almost always gang bangers but the feds lump them all together.

So now we are flooding the country with people from geographical areas were violence is an everyday occurrence. Middle East, Chechnya and so on. People typically best qualified for manual labor in a market already flooded with that; and we and wonder what went wrong. It's astonishing and depressing.

I see no need to play along with the govt scoundrels since I'm not doing anything wrong and I neither trust them nor do I respect their opinions.

Bottom line? Every time people have been naive enough to disarm they paid a heavy price in blood. See Chicago, USSR, Nazi Germany, Armenia and Cambodia for examples. When folks with guns (ie govts) want you to disarm it's time to run for cover.

Yod - Yep

Talbot - Some good points there, especially about Johnson. I was 8 years old and despised him first time I looked at him. Watched his first speech on TV and my father jumped all over me because the first thing I said was "he's a liar". I couldn't help it, that was my first impression, I still think I was right. One of the first things he did was keep us in Viet Nam, I didn't know it then but JFK had issued an order just before he was killed that would remove 1000 of our troops by the end of 1963 and all 17,000 by the end of 1965. Johnson reversed it immediately.

Then his great society, it's been going downhill ever since. Hated the bastard.

He backed down? I missed it. On the phone with my sister, didn't know it had even happened yet...gotta go look...

No, he backed down because he didn't push his agenda as hard as I was expecting. You are right Billy. Mike pointed it out very clearly. America has been in a great decline ever since the great society of lbj. Viet nam was the second time we sent our soldiers into harms way without giving them the full force and political will, to get the job done.

On the lighter side...

Mike if you have ranges were it is possible to legally and safely shoot some of these WMDs, I'll be down this summer with LOTS of CASH. My TREAT! :D

Absolutely. Bullseye Range in Lawrenceville. I've shot the Thompson Sub Machine gun there - much nicer and easier to handle than I'd been led to believe. Several others but my absolute favorite subgun was the MP5 known and loved by Swat teams everywhere. Very slow rate of fire so it handles like a dream. I was able to shoot equally well from shoulder or hip. (you can rent all sorts of pistols as well)

A friend has a (legal) Ingram MAC 11 - you blow hard on the trigger and the magazine empties itself. Fun to shoot? Yep. Useful? Maybe for clearing crowded telephone booths.

Our SMG in the army was UZI. From the 'just good enough category.' Thankfully we usually carried rifles.

The only problem with Bullseye is that people found out about it and now they are constantly swamped. Last time I was there both Tommy Gun and MP5 were in the shop. So was the Russian WW2 machine pistol I wanted to shoot.

Anyhow - if you come down - bring your guitar. (although I've got some here you can use)

THAT SOUNDS AWESOME.
I'm liking Georgia. I would love to explore some of the land available. 2 hours from anywhere would suit me fine.

I've been doing map exercises with south Georgia - needed a town for a scene I'm writing. I chose Cordele because there is NOTHING going on. Similar towns down the freeway like Tifton all the way down to Valdosta.

Last time I blew through Tifton I stopped for dinner at a buffet - I was the only white guy of several hundred. A local church group was meeting there. Sometimes it gets forgotten that black southerners are southerners too with the same good manners. Naturally I felt quite at home with them.

The interesting thing for you is probably the land east and west of these small communities. It's farmland for the most part. Lots of it. Wide open spaces.

PS - Cordele is fixing to go from NOTHING going on to rather a lot.
