any heretic that can point out to me in the New Testament anywhere, that Jesus preaches the ultimate goal in life is to be materialistically "PROSPEROUS" by chasing the almighty dollar, and I will never speak of Jesus again on this board.. I am sure he wanted us humans needs fulfilled, but he never said anything about hording wealth :o :|

Those verses are about how the letter of the law was twisted into something else. Like your doing in utter ignorance of what the letter of the law says when you envy a rich person.

ah...so you aren't "united" in your love for christ? and you have different interpretations of the bible and christ's teachings? hmmm....golly gee, i wonder if there are other religions where it's adherents have different interpretations.

it's obvious..... but even your most highly organized religious orders had falling outs and dis-agreements .. they need not be Christian, just look at McGregor Mathers and Aleister Crowley's hissy fits

but both those idiots (Mathers and Crowley) still did not get a grasp on the big picture, neither one of them had an outwardly "change" neither one, understood the flowing robes, Egyptian headdresses, and various ritualistic chants were in no way going to make the changes Jesus has instructed us about.. they were both duped in my opinion, and again thought of themselves spiritually advanced, like the Pharisees and scribes of Jesus's day  :x

Abraham was one of the richest men in the world at his time. Moses was the second most rich man in the world until he left Egypt. Solomon was the richest man in the world by far in his time.

There is nothing evil about being rich, as long as it wasn't gained dishonestly.

The Oil companies made a fortune in business without holding a gun to someone's head, while Soros got his billions by cheating entire nations and destroying their currencies. If you were serious about not loving thieves, you wouldn't be a Democrat OR a Republican; you'd be a conservative.

Liberal politicians (left and right) are preaching socialism in America. They are crooks who will eventually run out of other people's money. That's stealing and it doesn't matter if they steal from a poor man or a rich man...it's still theft.

Dayne that was a poorly worded question. NOWHERE in the Bible does it say you must suffer to obtain salvation.
That was a very misleading way to put the Christian message of being successful to protect the less fortunate.
I look at it this way...
Individual success = Gods will to protect all= All PROSPER.
Liberals look at this way...
Individual success = greed of individuals = control of mans law= big government = worship of false gods= everyone suffers... But it's OK to steal and usurp Gods will.

The reason I don't care for welfare and all that govt nonsense is exactly about 'giving alms.' The Word doesn't say 'steal money from others at gunpoint and let govt give some of it to whomever they please.' It is about us, individuals giving as God moves us to give. Assuming we have any left after being raped by the man.

The old Testament warns us very precisely about government but being sinful and ignorant people the Israelites, like everyone else, knew better than God.

As to divided Christians - yep. Only the theologically challenged assume that Christians are somehow magically perfect and sinless. Many are dumb asses. Many are mean spirited. Most have only the barest grasp of their own theology. It's a sinful world my friends. We are condemned by our sins. God's requirement is perfection. That means NO sins at all. Has only been achieved by one Man.

All other religions are about pleasing God through works, good deeds - which hopefully outnumber one's sins. Pretty silly ultimately because how would you ever know if you were saved? My brother Dan calls me the 'Tyrannosaurus Rex of Sin' and he can make a good argument for that. How could I be saved by deeds?

I'd note that Christianity has never been a code of conduct. Our professed morality is pretty much the same as the Vikings or Buddhists. Christianity is about redemption through substitutionary atonement through Jesus Christ. Period. All the rest is nice but that, and that only, is the bottom line.

It does get tiresome to hear all the pundits and political hacks blathering about 'real Christians' as if they have a clue.

Dayne - you might want to look up Mr. Crowley and see if you really buy his nonsense: "Do what thou wilt is the whole of the law." hmmm - maybe not eh?

Well - at least he got laid a lot and had good drugs. And now he's gone...
