If YOU'RE gonna call someone out for being ignorant, please try to select the correct word. :D

Lest you wish to appear ignorant, please refer to this example...

I hope you're not about to go postal over your hatred of liberals.

You're = you are
Your = posession

This PSA brought to you by Liberals.

Liberals...trying to educate "braindead" and "ignorant" conservatives so they might appear slightly less so, since.....uh, a long time ago!

Mark, who cares? You're/your who give a ratsass? You think that wins you a debate? I love how you liberals bait and switch! That makes you a really big man huh! Stroke that ego some more! You must have rubber arms and red marks from patting yourself on the back so much lol!

...as is the ability to recognize IRONY!

If YOUR intelligence fails you in seeing the irony of dissing someone's intelligence, while they're not intelligent enough to know which word to use...well, that speaks poorly of YOUR'S, Jeff.

"Irony"....it's in the dictionary. Look it up, sometime. 8)

I wasn't trying to "win a debate" ...only point out how foolish that made Slacker look. For the record, I couldn't care less about anyone's spelling, punctuation, or grammar. What they have to say is what matters.

But, if YOU'RE gonna call someone out on their lack of intelligence...it's best to try not to appear an uneducated stooge.

And speaking of "irony"....as far as "ego" goes, you have little to say (or SHOULD have little to say) in that dept. Everyone who participates on this forum has "ego". Do you think pointing out that I have one wins YOU a debate?

Now, grow up and accept the hit to your team like a man and stop your whining.

Jeff, are sure you know what "bait and switch" means?

I was clearly responding to Slacker questioning Jimmy's intelligence. I guess you missed that. How did I "bait and switch"?

So, were YOU trying to "bait and switch" by tossing off that comment.....or should YOUR intelligence be called into question?

"Bait and switch"....look it up it in the Conservative's Handbook.

You can find it on page 33 in the manual...."when faced with no other retort or cohesive argument that makes sense, always fall back to accusing your liberal opponent of "baiting and switching".

I see no reason why we can't find common ground, except for one thing:

People no longer trust our government to be fair, truthful, honest.

I'm all for requiring a person to

1. Pass a mental stability test
2. Pass a class on basic safety procedures
3. Have no criminal record
4. Renew every 5 years
5. Have a bio-metric gun safe for more than 3 weapons
6. Be a registered voter and naturalized citizen

MOST gun owners (that are recorded) in America are law abiding citizens. Infringing on their rights will only cause mistrust. The problem with the political climate is that we're tired of being lectured to by dishonorable people. When you believe that the life of a precious innocent child has value, we'll believe you when you act like you care about the lives of students.

When you require people to register with an ID to vote, we'd be more likely to trust the motivation behind requiring gun owners to register.

The hypocrisy of using an event like this for limiting legal gun ownership, while ignoring the gun crimes in Chicago every day doesn't promote any confidence or trust.

In other words, if you really want to reduce gun-related crime, start arresting every criminal who has a gun. Go into the gang wars of Chicago, Baltimore, St Louis and get rid of the crooks so people don't feel the need for providing their own security.

It would be a good start for an honest debate. Then we need to see the laws going through Congressional representatives we elected, instead of another "end-around" to produce law through other means. That would be a long slow process, but it would be clean law at the end of it.

Until that happens, I'd fight any restriction tooth-and-nail though I don't own a gun at all.

Jimmy and Mark, that is your holier than thou measurement of intelligence. I. E. Your opinion and that is all it is! Some of the most intelligent men I have met don't use proper grammar especially when talking to a bunch of yahoos like ya'll! Screw you and your irony! I don't give a ratsass what you think of me or my intellect. Lol!

JimmyD - You called it wrong on the shootings. Gang shootings in Chicago over the weekend were roughly fifty. That's a lot of folks and just one town. And that's every week.

Ted - just out of curiosity why do you think one should be registered to vote to own a weapon?

btw - every time I go to my reference shelves I remember your visit with gratitude! 8)

Anyone who doesn't vote has surrendered their right to influence gun policy for the rest of us.

People who don't vote don't really care about the political state of America, and only those who are willing to fight for the right to be American should own a weapon.

RUI Musik wrote:Ted, it's good to see that you acknowledge some additional controls are needed. However, the premise that gang violence in the major cities accounts for most of the gun crime is faulty. The people who are committing these mass shootings are mentally ill people who are not parts of gangs but everyday citizens who got their guns legally. That is the problem we must focus on, and stop talking about inner city violence. There has always been violence there and there always will be. Let's try to stop the violence we can stop. Prevent people with mental conditions from getting guns with stringent background checks.

If the government is going to claim that ANY laws are going to make us more secure, then they need to enforce existing gun laws fairly. They need to show that they are honestly concerned about the security of all Americans, by vigorously confronting the criminals who use illegal guns daily.

Until the violent gun owners and illegal gun owners are made to surrender their weapons, it would unfair and unwise for anyone else to.

And it doesn't help that Obama won't call any muslim a terrorist but they list Christian groups who have a political disagreement high on the list. Face it....NO ONE trusts Obama with a decision of Constitutional impact.

Nothing meaningful can happen on his watch.

It is all about disarming the people not safety, not saving lives, not regulating or defending yourself. The Farce that passes at this moment for "government" is nothing more than Evil Political and corporate Filth who as minions of something vastly superior to their microbe selves ... do not even recognise the mere possibility. Take the guns equals take the people and take the country.

http://www.infowars.com/indiana-sheriff ... fiscation/

If the Constitution was enforced then all this shite would be put in prison and most of the "problems" would simply go away. Any diatribes or nonsensical debates only waffle the Truth and distract the stupid and ignorant. Read the Constitution you freaks who pretend to "know" when you know nothing. Spew your false concerns and declare your ignorance ... the "government" loves you. You betray your Ancestors, families and selves ... putrid pinnacles of ignorance, stupidity and Evil.

typical conservative spin and attempt at glossing over of reality. you might not agree w any of these but whether or not you do...they ARE in fact quite "meaningful".

so tell me....do you not consider taking bin ladin out "meaningful"?

how about saving the jobs of auto workers by bailing out GM and Chrysler?

...obamacare?

deporting around 400,000 illegal aliens PER YEAR (twice the number Bush did!) ?

repealing "don't ask don't tell"?

Launching a $15 billion plan to boost lending to small businesses?

Limiting lobbyist's access to the White House?

Ordering secret detention facilities in Eastern Europe and elsewhere to be closed?

Providing better body armor to our troops?

nothing meaningful???? really?

I was speaking to the gun control debate specifically....but as long as you bring it up:

so tell me....do you not consider taking bin ladin out "meaningful"?

Politically? It didn't pay off as much as Obama had hoped, since most Americans gave credit to the Navy Seals for that. But we were all soon double-crossed by someone on the inside giving up 17 of the Seals involved in a betrayal that is still being covered up.

how about saving the jobs of auto workers by bailing out GM and Chrysler?

Typical Wall Street insider, while acting like he cares for the "little people"

I don't believe that protecting the Unions who got you elected is Constitutionally allowed. It's akin to fascism.

What about all the other businesses that were left to die after the recession created by Todd-Frank?

...obamacare?

Which version? He has lied about it at every step, and changed it unilaterally several times, which is technically illegal. Does the website work YET? Most Americans would agree with me that it has been a terrible debacle, and it will be altered many many many times before it becomes acceptable.

deporting around 400,000 illegal aliens PER YEAR (twice the number Bush did!) ?

Cosmetic numbers while swinging open the gate for millions more from who knows where???

repealing "don't ask don't tell"?

You really think that turning our military into a gay pride party is a good thing? That's one of the most foolish things done in world history.

Launching a $15 billion plan to boost lending to small businesses?

While taxing the middle class and small business TRILLIONS to pay for Obamacare?

Tell me you're joking, please?

Limiting lobbyist's access to the White House?

Only those who represent American citizens have been limited. Our loyal allies like Israel have to enter the White House through the back door. Even England got snubbed for the first few years of his reign.

Yet Communists, Socialists, Leftists, Homosexuals, Terrorists, Muslims, Racists, Atheists, Pagans, Iran, Cuba and any other kind of anti-American lobbyist gets the front door of the White House and the welcome mat.

Ordering secret detention facilities in Eastern Europe and elsewhere to be closed?

Harming our ability to gather intelligence.

That's how we get caught flat-footed when Russian invades our "ally" Ukraine.

Providing better body armor to our troops?

Not sure why you think that is an Obama accomplishment. I'd bet it came from within the military.

Obama has IGNORED our veterans. The VA scandal is continuing unabated.

No, Obama slapped them all by giving cover to the deserter, Bergdahl, so please don't act like he has ever been a friend to the military. He constantly over-rules the counsel of our greatest military minds and, in fact, his weakness is the very reason that ISIS has arisen, why Russia is in Syria, why Libya/Algeria/Eygpt have had nothing but turmoil and misery since he came into office.

nothing meaningful???? really?

On these issues? Yes, "meaningful" but in a very bad way.

Not sure how anyone can support the betrayal he has wrought upon this nation.
