is it such a far fetched idea, for a government or state to force it's citizens into taking an oath of allegiance.. I took an oath when I joined the U.S. Air Force in 1980,, I swore I would die for my country if it came to that, the ultimate sacrifice.., I think the ancient Romans demanded it's citizens to swear that Caesar was to be honored like a deity to some extent.. Hitler and the legal German government of the day, looked into your familial history to find hints of non-Aryan blood in the familial tree..will there be a time when the anti-christ (the devil within the temple) makes you swear you believe and worship "god" and if that day comes as the bible predicts, will you then say you are an atheist ? maybe the atheist will be the "true believer" not making the devil pass as good god in heaven..

I know damn well I will never get a hit on this topic, but I thought I would put it out there nonetheless, for shits and grins..

jimmie, no hard feelings ok?.. I guess I was being sort of a dick posting those excerpts about pro-creationism earlier today, and I did not know you would take it that way, but we have always gotten along for a few years here, so I hope we both can just overlook today's posts.. it might be the only thing I dis-agree with you about, since politically we are on the same page for the most part, think you can look back on my posts and never find me dissing blacks or Lationos, or even Bulgarians for that matter.. (one of my better friends I had was a swarthy Palestinian shop keeper in Cameron Village, Raleigh, N.C.)but when I thought about it, and felt sorta bad about it, I realized what difference to me does it make if a guy is a believer or not... it is no harm to me..so why should I care..

good tidings jimmie.. and by the way, I mean no dis-respect to you when I use lower case letters, since as I recall you used to use lower case letters when you signed off and on as jimmiedanger all one word, if I am wrong about this, let me know, and I will change to Jimmy Danger or JIMMYDANGER or politely let me know what you prefer

Dayne, we USE to say the pledge of allegiance every morning in school. Thank you for your service of country.
Having said that I must say when you post things then turn around and apologize for doing so it becomes hard for me to take you seriously. If you feel strongly enough to post something own it man. I know it is a free country and you are free to do as you please (unless you're a conservative) you have back peddled on your post several times in the past.

If you've watched any old B&W flicks (as I often do, when I have the time), the original words were, 'one Nation, Indivisible'. The original pledge was originally written in the late 1800s.

There was a big huff in the last few years to return to the old pledge and drop 'under God'.
Nothing new here since it wasn't originally in the pledge to begin with.

Have a good day!! :)

that's the way I remember it from grade school. I had to learn it in 4th grade, because that's when we moved here from Canada (oh no, I'm an alien!)

Thanks for the info Jook.
FYI, I do not base my friendship on these either. I consider ALL on this site friends, well except for My Willie :D
I do take a man on his word. That means a lot to us Texans! It's hard to take a man on his word when he constantly flip flops.

There are extreme positions for either. None of them good. That's why it was Christians who made sure that freedom of religion was the FIRST part of the FIRST Amendment. Now the statists (who prefer to be called "progressive") want to separate that from freedom of speech and freedom of the press to form a godless society where life is devalued for the good of the State (over individual liberty of thought and purpose).

You were executed for not denying God and pledging allegiance to the State in Lenin/Stalin's Russia, Mao's China, and dozens of political entities of world history. Many previous kingdoms demanded worship of their ruler as a god, combing religion and State. For a relatively brief period in history, one could be executed in Europe for having the wrong denomination of Christianity. Today you are executed in several Islamic nations for not pledging allegiance to their particular "god".

People of faith ended ALL of those scenarios, and we shall overcome Islam and their fascist-cousin "Progressives" eventually.

I prefer talking to people who disagree with me when it comes to discussion boards. Isn't that the point?

I mention this to say, in all sincerity, that the most surprising thing about anyone who supports the "progressives" is the utter ignorance of history. They don't understand that they will be the first victims once they get their wish.

But there isn't a politician alive we can really trust. Only a matter in degrees of self-worship, and few of them are honest about it. Maybe that's the attraction to Trump and Bernie? The most successful tyrants are the ones who hide it best....at first.

Indeed, some things never change when it comes to people being duped or allowing themselves to be corrupted by politicians, so I don't blame them. If we can expose the lies they are told, some of them will see.

No they don't Jeff.
71 pennies of every federal tax dollar, goes to servicing the national debt.

Everyone better start working harder...

My greatest fear is Bernie Sanders promised free beer... I hate broken promises...
