Did climate kill off the Neanderthals

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/7873373.stm <<<.... Complete article here

Neanderthal skull from Forbe's Quarry, Gibraltar (Clive Finlayson)
By about 24,000 years ago, the Neanderthals had vanished

Climate change, we're told, poses the single gravest threat to the survival of our species.

And

Recent research has suggested that climate change may have been the killer blow that finished off our closest evolutionary cousins.

...........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

So they now believe that the extinction of the Neanderthal was caused by Climate Change. Maybe the Neanderthal politicians should have warned them.

"if the experience of our ancient relatives the Neanderthals is anything to go by, we should take note of the warnings."

..Really? And just what warnings did the Neanderthal have that they should have paid closer attention to in order to avert the problem of "Climate Change"?? If the Neanderthal was more conservative in his lifestyle and paid more attention to the adverse conditions he was causing on the earth he might still be around today? Isn't that what this guy is implying when he relates them to us? Doesn't he see the forest for the trees? Seems obvious to me that man has little or nothing to do with it using his example.

Were the Neanderthals burning too many fossil fuels? Were they taking too many trips in their SUV's ? Was the cause too much carbon emission from from their power plants? Did the over use of aerosol can propellants & refrigerants cause a hole in the Ozonosphere leading to climate change? Did big Neanderthal industrialized manufacturing cause the climate change? Had to be something causing climate change back then. Do you think whatever caused it back then just kinda went away for some reason? Or was it the same thing that causes temperature variations today? It couldn't have been cyclic weather patterns that come about every 100 years or 1,000 years or 10.000 years could it? Now days some believe we can control the weather, but we can't accurately forecast it a couple of hours in advance very often. Yet we think we can control the sea levels if we work at it, or maybe even when the sun shines, or rises and sets. We only have to maintain a positive attitude right? Let's just be the "Little Train that Could" We only have to do without and we can save ourselves from whatever. Well, everything but the con games of the lying socialist political class.

We all are told that global warming / climate change is caused by man, right? Wouldn't he same thing that caused "climate change" back then be the same that is causing "climate change" today? Or would that be a logically absurd assumption based on common sense? Climate Change.is the the political con game of the ages that has nothing to do with our ability to control the temperature of the earth or the universe, which I hear also goes through temperature changes.

And just how many times do you suppose the earth has gone through radical climate changes before the earth was industrialized?

At the time the neanderthals were declining the earth was at the tail end of a long ice age, which ended about 40,000 years ago. Approximately 15,000 years is a long time, but the earth was still heating up, the land bridge from europe to Alaska was still usable until around 10,000 years ago or a little more. So things were still warming up.

I've seen some interesting articles about this, indications have been found I think in Europe of cohabitation by both Neanderthal and Cro Magnon man. The theory is that Cro Magnon, a more intelligent species, finished of the already declining Neanderthals, competing for living space and hunting grounds.

As for climate change, the sun is the only thing in our local part of the galaxy that produces enough energy to influence the overall climate (not to be confused with weather). The fluctuations in solar energy and sunspots vary in cycles of 206 years, (in addition to a couple of other minor cycles inside those) and we are at the end of one and the beginning of another. Solar activity and especially sunspots have been declining for the past 10 years or so, we are headed into a long cold cycle, another mini ice age similar to the one in the time of Napoleon. Look up Maunder Minimum and Dalton minimum.

Maunder minimum was 1645 through 1715
Dalton was 1790 through 1830.

The Dalton was during Napoleon's lifetime. Very harsh winters, crop failures, starvation and more. The harsh winters were the reason for some of his military failures.

This is the same thing happening now and it will not be good. During these times history also shows increased volcanic and earthquake activity. I don't understand why, but if you look around we already see volcanoes and earthquakes causing problems just in the past 2 or 3 years in several places. And Yellowstone is a Caldera volcano - super volcano - long overdue for an eruption. Note also that volcanoes introduce loads of ash into the atmosphere, often enough to block out sunlight, which will increase the cooling tendency.

The global warming scare during the 90's was a brief warming trend due to increased solar activity just before the end of the last cycle. When it died down, the warming trend did too, no warming has been logged since 1998. The cooling trend is barely perceptible at this time, but you may have noticed the past 2 winters were especially harsh. That's just the beginning. This is the start of at least a 30 year cycle of colder winters, if it works out the way it looks, within the next 10 years or so crops we normally grow will not grow in the same locations, they will have to be moved south because colder climate will have a detrimental affect on agriculture. That's why harsher winters caused crop failures and starvation during Napoleon's time. Wars resulted because governments couldn't feed their citizens.

Can you prove any of these theory's?

Dumb question. It's called a theory because it hasn't been conclusively proven. Once proven it's called a fact.

You obviously didn't look at the references provided, if you had you would know they may not prove anything but they do give considerable weight to the idea that solar activity has a lot of influence over climate, and that the recent trends over the past 20 years do not show any warming, (that part is fact) while historical evidence shows solid signs of a recurring cycle that warrant careful consideration. (that part is fact also)

Do you really think a supreme being would design animals to go extinct? In fact, religious people I have talked to think that God created all plants and animals in their perfect "Type"; why would God find it necessary to kill off His perfect creations?

I don't know or pretend to know what any supreme being might do. According to the Bible this same supreme being condoned and participated in a number of pretty gruesome wars, killed all the first born of the land, destroyed entire cities, and caused a flood to wipe out the entire planet.

So I can infer from those instances that same supreme being just might decide to render entire species completely extinct.

As far as the religious people I have talked to, any time you come up with an argument they can't win they fall back on their favorite line, well God has a plan...That doesn't explain why the God that said Thou shalt not kill wiped out all the first born children of an entire nation and participated in the deaths of thousands of people in a number of wars. And if you stop and think about it, wars fought using spears and swords, dropping boiling oil from the castle walls, burning entire towns, were exceptionally vicious and gruesome. So yeah, this God just might decide entire species needed to become extinct...without a second thought.

And people wonder why I don't believe in religion...all religions were created by man.

So Pete - you trying to prove your own point? You don't like the way God runs the universe so you blow it off? You're right - most religion IS man made.

You can always spot them: they are easy, you just follow some goofy rules that aren't too taxing and all will be well you.

May I suggest Buddhism? That one's really easy.

Government Agency Delivers Devastating News to Climate Change Fanatics

The global warming debate has morphed into a scientific civil war aided by the powerful influence of government in an effort extend control over our daily lives.

But there’s been a recent upset victory for the side of the debate not popular with the Obama administration and ultra-liberal scientists.

Using data previously compiled by the mostly pro-global warming National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the U.S. Climate Reference Network has concluded that not only are global warming alarmists misleading, they’re completely off the mark, as data suggests there’s been a 15-year slight cooling period.

That 15-year stretch has been during a time when global warming is, no pun intended, one of the hottest topics in our nation’s capital.

Global-Warning

The NOAA data compiled by USCRN was in direct response to a recent report released by a group of authors affiliated with NOAA and National Centers for Environmental Information who were attempting to discredit a variety of previous studies that suggested there was undoubtedly a hiatus in the “global warming” trend.

With the amount of debate, which has been perverted by big government checks, it’s fair to say that the average person can’t make an informed decision on what’s really happening.

But one should only look at the agenda behind the Obama administration’s involvement in the debate. Our own government has taken a stance on the subject and began creating restrictive policies as a result, without fully knowing what’s actually happening (H/T The New American).

What better way to restrict the energy sector, a hated sector among liberals, than by manufacturing data that suggests humans are responsible for melting the planet earth?

After all, we haven’t a clue what changes this planet’s climate has undergone for thousands of years. We have nothing more than a fraction of a fraction of recorded climate data, but apparently that’s enough for Obama to use in order to do what he does best — assume control of as much of our daily lives as possible.

Though liberal global warming fanboys won’t like USCRN’s report that suggests global warming is not only not happening but also that our climate has actually cooled over nearly two decades, they’ll continue to follow people like President Obama and Al Gore who have no problem with skewed data if it means furthering their agendas.

What are your thoughts on global warming? Do you think humans are responsible for the alleged warming of our planet or do you think it’s mostly a political maneuver to scare Americans into depending on our government even more than they already do? Sound off on Facebook and Twitter.
