Just wondering about where people see themselves going with their music and how people deal with having multiple musical interests... I know for me I like lots of different types of music. I play classical piano and can compose light acoustic style tunes to fit my melodic side. I can DJ dance and electro music and started producing a bit on my computer. I like jazz, the progressive dissonance and resolution. I like hard and dark sounds like NIN. I like fun synth lead pop... etc etc etc. I'd like to play as much as possible with lots of different people. But even without considering the band and live issue - I spend my time doing such different music that I don't feel like I have an identity as an artist. Do people compose under different aliases? Post on separate myspace pages? Join multiple bands?
Or maybe people notice a progression in their music as they advance in their career. Some of you musical veterans can probably comment on this - did you start somewhere and then kind of check off your different music styles as you went along?
